Thank you Paul, that is incredibly helpful.
If you do come across the full spec of the pre-2000 model anywhere that's really what I could do with as need it for breakdown cover in Europe and just would like to know it in any case. Length, width, height, weight etc.
Thanks again,
Dan

Hi Tim,
Seeing your post about your W reg Duetto LE from March 2000, I think models based on the old 'Smiley' Transit continued for a while after March. Until recently I had an X reg LE that was first registered in October 2000. I recall reading somewhere that the run out of this model were based on the Kombi version of the Transit as other versions were hard to come by from Ford due to the imminent change over. Certainly mine was built on this cheaper base vehicle - no air con, manual cab windows etc. Didn't make the habitation area any less desirable though, and the standard addition of the giant Heki rooflight fitted as standard on these run out models made a huge difference to the light and airiness inside!

Hi
Yes it is a Kombi.
Someone reckoned that LE meant Less Equipment......
As you describe, and steel wheels.
I believe less prone to rusting chassis than prior ?
As well as the huge Heki rooflight it has upgraded cooker, matching green enamelled sink/drainer, and gold-coloured tap.

Yes, all those little extras, but from experience I'm not so sure about being less prone to chassis rust!!

Re: Duetto Dimensions
I used to own the same sort of van and changed the manual cab windows to electric. A member on the Transit Owners forum was breaking a van which had power windows and I bought door cards, wiring harness and motors from him for £50. It's a simple job to do as the wiring harness just needed plugging in to the main harness which is already there! As a solo person travelling alone, power windows were a big plus for me.Greenshipwright wrote: Certainly mine was built on this cheaper base vehicle - no air con, manual cab windows etc.
AC is quite another matter though. Not so easy to find second hand and not easy to retro-fit. If I was to start travelling again and buy another van, AC would be up there at the top of my list!
