Hi there
Hi,
Just realised I should've posted a 'Hello' in here before wading into the technical forum with my short-circuit leisure-battery woes!
I'm Graham and my wife (who may well post on this account as well) is Gibby. We have a small dog called Mac, and an AS Topaz on a 1997 VW T4 van, called Dora. It's our first AS, and we're both pretty impressed by the conversion. How they've managed to cram so many features into such a small space is remarkable.
We've both spent many summers under canvas, in caravans, and latterly in Archie, our 30 year old Elddis Highlander II motorhome. Archie's pretty big and cumbersome, underpowered and has no power steering, but we love him. However, due to some major incompetence at the hands of a member of staff at a certain leisure-vehicle expert, we found ourselves deprived of our beloved motorhome. I realise it's bad form (and probably against the rules) to name and shame, so I'll keep quiet on that score for the time being!
Realising that the necessary insurance claim and subsequent repairs were probably going to take the rest of 2022 (we dropped him in for maintenance last October) we bought Dora, our T4 Autosleeper as a stop-gap, but we've been so impressed that we may well retire Archie and keep Dora.
We're slowly finding out what works and what needs replacing, but so far, we're very happy campers.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post in Technical Chat and made me feel welcome. This forum is a great resource; it's good to know you're all here.

Re: Hi there
Hi Graham and welcome to you and yours. I doubt you'll look back from your "conversion" to AS! We wouldn't be without ours, after a VW Viking for 8 years (very ancient) and then recommended an AS Trooper, Hattie, who served us well for another 8. We bought our current AS Symbol from a fellow member and love her. She's going to Orkney again, setting off tomorrow :-)
Wishing you many happy years in Dora
