Hello members
Hi
MY name is Ron Peponis. I bought a 1990 Auto-Sleeper Legend GL on a Ford Transit LCX 120, during lockdown. We used to have a Swift Challenger 4 berth Caravan. We sold it to a local trader a few years ago and now wanted to up-grade to a motorhome. I looked and looked and looked online and finally found this beauty with only 63 thousand miles on the clock. We have been out locally a few times and really enjoyed the ride. We have waited until we had a habitation check before venturing on a longer trip, hopefully Cornwall. The check only showed an old gas connection line (dated 1997). Everything else works fine and there is no water leaks. I'm sure I will be doing some work to it, over the summer in between trips. It is only me and the wife and two bloodhounds and we can't wait to get on the road.
Ron
PS: Not great with computers. Tried to upload a pic, but couldn't figure it out. I have pics on the this computer but no URL for the pics.

Hi, Ron. Enjoy Cornwall. The weather's not great here at the moment.

Hi Twinwheeler
We won't be coming until June some time. We used to stay at the Ayr Campsite in St Ives. Hopefully weather will be better by the time we come.

Thanks for responding. We can't wait to get on the road to Cornwall. Want to let the Jubilee settle first.

Re: Hello members
i looked at Ayr campsite but found them a bit pricey. We stayed at Trevaylor at Botallack just north of St Just and Heligan Gardens. Both sites suited us and muttly.
Were ever you end up I am sure you will enjoy youre ttravels.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the other site suggestions, I'll look into them. Who is Mutty? We have two bloodhounds, Gandolph 9 and his partner Millicent 8. They love the motorhome and getting out.

Muttly or Paddy is our Romanian rescue elderly gent age uncertain but about 10ish. He is supposed to be a Catapthian Mountain dog. He is a rather lazy and has some odd traits that we have trying to sort out for the last year.
He travels well but cant be bothered with other young dogs that want to play.

Sounds cantankerous - just like two bloodhounds we know. Never heard of the breed, must be special for you two.

Re: Hello members
He is special in fact management says he has special needs. The breed is supposed to protect sheep in the mountains. Having seen his reaction to sheep on one of our walks I don’t think he is up to the job. He walked behind me looking nervous.
The best way to describe him is that he is Labrador shape with a double Black and tan woolly coat.

Re: Hello members
We were at Ayr a few weeks ago. Be aware that they're doing some large-scale building work at the Ayr campsite - the old cafe up on the hill has been demolished and a huge hole has been dug where the children's play area used to be. I'd avoid a pitch near that part of the site if poss.
Also, Ayr is very popular nowadays so best to book asap if you want an electric pitch or hardstanding.

Thanks for the heads up about Ayr. We were also looking into the campsite by, I think it is the Helligan Garden, not sure.

Re: Hello members
If you’re going to Heligan and fancy going into Mevagissey be warned it’s a lovely walk down but the return is a bit of climb.
There is a car park on the outskirts of the village that has spaces for motorhomes or you can get the bus from the site. We were a bit short on choices because muttly hasn’t mastered buses yet.

Re: Hello members
My wife is disabled, so not much walking for her, only with a rollator. She has gone from almost totally immobile to walking aided, we live in hope that she will recover totally, from her slipped disk. We bought a small 2 berth that we can park almost anywhere, especially any disabled bay. At least that's the plan. Last time we were at Ayr, (2018), she was totally mobile and we were in a caravan and could drive away. Bit more difficult now, but we will manage. I fully intend to show her around the UK in the coming years. I travelled extensively with my work until I retired, now I want to show her this beautiful country. What better way to travel and see the sights, huh?

Re: Hello members
If you do visit Mevagissey, as Dave suggested, please don't make the mistake of trying to drive through the narrow streets.

Hi Tinwheeler
I am sure I'll make my share of mistakes. Thanks to you I won't make that one. This owners club is turning out to be a gold mine. I'm glad I joined. Just out of curiosity, what is a Tinwheeler?

Re: Hello members
"What is a Tinwheeler?" Well, it's a made up entity. It stems from our first caravan of 1949 vintage which had funny little tinny wheels.
The 'Tin' part also gives a nod to the Cornish mining heritage, although to be more in keeping with that theme I should have spelled the second part 'whealer' in view of wheal being the Cornish word for mine.
So there you are, vague musings in different directions produced the name.
