Conversations with "Chris"
Are there any others here that are getting calls from "Chris" about a Green Energy <something>? I seem to be getting them on a weekly basis now.
If you do... try to take the "conversation" in unexpected directions and see how it goes! Recently I've been asking him about his favourite football team, the situation in Ukraine and how his Mum is getting on. And the "conversation" gets strangely circular, with "Chris" not appearing to understand.
Eventually, despite me begging him not to go without telling me more about how his Mum is doing, he hangs up - but I did manage to keep "him" occupied for a few minutes...

Re: Conversations with "Chris"
Years ago we used to have endless calls about double glazing. I told one of the callers that my daughter deals with that sort of thing. I then put him on to my daughter who was six or seven at the time, and she said she might want them for her dolls house. Oh and just to reassure you she would not have been in any way fazed by that……oh no!

The big difference now is that you are talking to a computer, running a scripted (but adaptable) dialogue with voice recognition.
So you don't even get the satisfaction of wasting one of their employees time! Though you are at least keeping one of their outgoing lines occupied...

The best thing we did was to replace our phones with a BT set (think they were about £60-£70 for the 3) that vets every call that is not in its call book and puts them through the 3rd degree, prior to letting them speak to us. They soon get fed up.
We can now have our tea without interruptions.

Trouble is if you talk to the computer your phone number gets sold to any other scammer that will pay for it. If you answer the ring tone and then hear two seconds of silence, just hang up.
