How many nights away did you manage in '21
We managed 66 nights in the van this year, normally around 90, so not bad considering. How many did you manage?

Totted up a few weeks ago,van was out of action until late May due to problem with Truma boiler. Since then Van has been used for 36 nights away, by us and both our daughters. Should increase a lot in 2022.
Certainly justifies ongoing running costs to provide flexible comfortable nights away plus regular day trips.

Paul , 66 nights looks a good target.
will come back later once I've looked at the log, which is in our van.
will be interested to count them up as our first 2021 weekend away was delayed/ locked up, till April 15th 16th.

We managed a modest 37 nights away over five separate trips: Cornwall (twice), Kent, Pembrokeshire and Derbyshire.

52 for us, but 13 of those were me sleeping in the 'van when we had family down.
2020 totals were a measly 44, with 6 on the drive.
Let's hope we all enjoy a few more nights away in '21.
All the best folks.

50 for us, too - which is our highest total. Plus a few nights where the van served as a dormitory at home.

40+ but just to use the thing.
0 where it should be used, and indeed, it's only real purpose, abroad.
If same in 2022, 2002 Exec for sale!!

25 nights for us, in the South of England. Did use it at least once a week when home to spend a day on Hayling Beach, looking at the sea/IOW and dog walking. No need to justify not using the van, just enjoy having it when we want it.
Would be nice to get back to France, but Brexit has all but put pay to taking the dog.

Same here, only done about 20 nights touring the UK in 2021. It was ok, but we're not site users, and I don't see the point of carrying everything for self sufficiency but then using site facilities. Plus we're not very sociable... and I refuse to join any of the so called 'clubs'.IanH wrote:40+ but just to use the thing.

We bought the van for relaxed continental touring, and if I can't drive to the heel of Italy and on to Greece this year then the van will be sold.

Re: How many nights away did you manage in '21
I've made it approx 58 plus or minus 1 or 2. In a normal year it would be about 55 to 60 plus some extra weekends so we weren't too far down but we really missed the flexibility that we value so highly in mainland Europe. But a lot better than 2020 when we hardly used the van at all. Hope to get back to normal in 2022.

75 nights planned for 2022 (not booked) so far, so may reach 100 if all goes to plan, a mixture of Club sites, CL/CS's, pubs and rallies . Not planning to do any Warners Shows except maybe as day visitor if in the area at the time.

Interesting topic - just totted up and from April to November exactly 100 days away last year (including a 5 week spell in France in August / September). Only 42 days away planned so far - hopefully lots more to come.
Happy New Year and happy hols everyone.

We did 106 starting on 12th April that was the first night we were allowed out ( a week on Jaytee's CL), I think we normally do about 120 but that includes some committee meetings and the ASOC National that didn't happen in 2021.
Son and family slept in it on the drive on Boxing Day night.

Re: How many nights away did you manage in '21
For us, zero nights unfortunately. Health problems for my wife followed by serious health issues (ultimately terminal) with one on my Border terriers precluded us from using the van at all last year other than on a day by day basis mainly to keep it well maintained.
Seriously hoping for a better 2022.

Re: How many nights away did you manage in '21
2020 - 68 nights
2021 - 65 nights
Bar Covid restrictions and ill-health the above should be increased by at least 20 in 2022. So far we have only planned 8 nights away in Jan 22 and 5 nights in Feb 22 but more will follow. Due largely to Covid we have yet to go abroad or cover big distances in UK. All nights were on CAMC CLs & sites and all but 4 on an EHU.

Re: How many nights away did you manage in '21
Interesting that everyone knows precisely how many nights they have been away. We know because we keep a little black book with all our trips recorded including a short review of each site and what we did. We rate each site with a cross (never use again), one tick (use again if in area) or two ticks (go out of our way/definitely use again). Fortunately we don't have many crosses. We have been doing this since we started caravanning in 1993. Without it we really wouldn't remember where and when we have been. We are on our second book.
