Hello Everyone
Me and my wife have just bought our first Motorhome (or is it a Camper Van?) after many years of camping in tents and watching wishfully on the last days of holidays as Van owners pulled out of the camp sites while we were still pulling up tent pegs. So now we've crossed over and I guess it'll be us smugly grinning as we head for home. Oh yes, it's a Ford Auto-sleeper Excelsior and we're off in it in six days to the Isle D'Oleron for a month. We were at the same site a couple of months back in our tent - so it'll be strangely familiar. The reason our tent took so long to take down was because it is probably twice the size of our new Motorhome (we would often have a dance in it after a few wets) - so technically we're downsizing.
We're both looking forward to taking part in future forums (fora???). Have a good summer everyone. We can't wait...

Hi lewislewis,
Welcome from (dry today) Kent.
What about 'Motorcaravan'? Apparently the 'official' designation!

Hello & welcome from East Yorkshire
I was once told by a salesman, if it's based on a Transit type body, and shape its a weekender, and a camper van, if its coach built or Luton type its a motor home, based on the fact it has a shower, and toilet.
I think his argument falls down with weekenders that have showers & toilets, but at that stage I had not seen enough to argue with him!
Does not help you, but there it is!
