Thanks for the update (again) Paul.

Booked for end Nov, early Dec.

I think this will be our fourth or fifth "last chance". hugegrins

A word of warning for Members intending to stay at Baltic Wharf:

Wonderful location (after eventually finding it!) and a good stay. But beware. Access to and from the site is controlled by 3-way traffic lights. So the road onto which the site opens (via a gap in a high wall so it's a totally concealed entrance) has its traffic controlled by the lights.

I wanted to leave the site, in the dark; my headlights were on. I queued inside the gate waiting for the light to change to green. When it did, I eased out into the road - and only managed an emergency stop in time to avoid hitting (or rather, being hit by) a cyclist and a scooter-ist (?) who shot across the entrance, on the pavement. They were probably unaware that there was the blind entrance to the site, controlled by the traffic light. They had clearly jumped the red light.

The incident frightened me. That's why I'm posting this note of warning.

Glad you survived the incident Cymro.

The last time we were there, we were amazed ny the amount of those electric scooters being used.
They were seemingly everywhere, weaving in and about pedestrians.
They will use the footway outside the site, so totally ignore the traffic lights and, as you say, have to be very wary leaving the site at all times.

Good of you to warn others though and we'll try and keep it in mind in 3 weeks time when we revisit. snigger

Hope you get better weather! We hadn't been around the SS Great Britain for decades, and so that was ideal for wet weather - the Museum and Brunel exhibitions weren't built when we were there last!

My Son and family live in Bristol, scooters every where. Just dumped all over the place and when they are used, not uncommon to see them being used by underage and two up. Where are the Police??

Thanks again Paul.
Yet another "last chance" for us.

Booked four nights in August, then gulped at the price......

Still going though. smile!

Just realised that the Bristol Balloon Festival is back on for this year.
Checked the dates and double-checked availability at BW and have now moved dates to cover the festival.
New dates down to £32.40 per night too!.

So, a big, big thank you to Paul for his most timely update. handshake
Cheers mate.

If anyone else interested in above mentioned ballon festival…. Avon district of caravan club have meet in school field with direct access to festival. Cannot guarantee there is space but well worth a try if considering going.

Thanks for the update again Paul.

For anyone thinking of going, please note that from mid-November, Baltic Wharf and its environs comes within the new Clean Air Zone. I haven't checked charges yet, but I won't be bothering booking there again.
Let's hope the proposed CAMC site (if it ever materialises)  falls outside the zone.

I have family living in Bristol, seems Council are having hard time getting planning through for the high class flats planned, hence the continued extensions. The same planners have refused the CMC plans for the new site on flooding and light issues. Nothing changes!
