Greetings from Northumbria
Hi all - and thank you for letting me join your group. I enjoyed many a caravan holiday in my childhood in the 50's and early 60's. My parents owned a humble static caravan based at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland. The experiences got me (and my brother) hooked and throughout my teens to my 40's I did a lot of tent camping - particularly in Scotland and The Lakes. Tragically widowed in my early 30's I brought my young kids up on my own. I took them camping and they in turn now take their kids camping! In my late 40's I met my partner, June who insisted on a little more comfort so we bought a touring caravan. Now, some 20 years and 5 caravans later, me and my partner have recently entered the world of the Auto Sleeper! A new learning curve, and, we hope, some more new adventures to experience and some new friends to make.

Re: Greetings from Northumbria
Hi HR, thanks for the background in your first post; it's nice to know a bit about fellow forum members. I think quite a lot of people on here have a similar camping history. We started out in tents, had a couple of old VW splitty vans (long before they were so expensive), camped in an old Morris van, then back to tents, then a LWB Land Rover plus tent, and now a motorhome. Compared to modern motorhomes ours is quite basic, which suits us fine, we don't want lots of gadgets to go wrong. Like your partner, we've decided we need a bit more comfort when on our travels.
I hope you enjoy your new 'van.
