Fitting a tow bar to AS Bourton 2019
Has anyone had a tow bar fitting fitted to a 2019 (onwards ) AS Bourton, and was there any serious weight penalties involved ? And how much modification is required at the rear end fairing etc?

We have one fitted on a 19 plate MB auto. It has 2 small cuts in the lower fairing. Weight wise its not a light towbar as there are 2 1.5m parallel flange channels that run forwards underneath, so quite sturdy. Think it was fitted by a company in Stoke and is manufactured / supplied by a company called motorhometowing.co.uk.

Thanks for the heads up on that. It might be easier to replace the bike rack with a lowering one, as my wife is now considering an E bike. The spirit is willing but the flesh isn’t too keen in lifting heavy things nowadays .

Don't forget to check what the weight limit is on the bike rack if you go down that route

Hi Jimyd
Are you able to post any pictures of the 2 channels that you mentioned and how they are attached at the forward end and at the towbar frame? Also of the cutout on the rear valance.
We have a similar 2019 Merc Auto Bourton and I am interested to find out what mods are necessary to install a towbar.
Many thanks. If you can’t post photos, PM me and I can give you an email address to send them to.
Thanks,
Boggie

We had a towbar fitted to our 2020 Bourton a couple of months ago. The towbar is heavy and as Jimyd said the have to fit extenders and cut a little into the back skirt. We weighed the moho a couple of weeks ago and with my husband and a full tank of diesel it weighed 3360 , leaving 140 kg for me, some food and clothes. We don't travel with water, so in our case it's still possible with care to meet the 3500kg weight limit.

Had one fitted by Armitage at Ferrybridge just off the M62, real good job.
