Did you check that it is actually connected (mine wasn’t if you recall....even though, when I checked the PDI sheet, it was shown as working )

I had to bite my tongue because they have also photographed and documented the rust spots on the roof, and they will be submitting a warranty claim for that. So I couldn’t shoot myself in the foot by telling them exactly what I thought of the solar situation.

I think they did check that judging by the mess they left the sofa cushions in.

Re: Marquis “can’t test solar today”
Multimeter on 200vdc, connect to both panel wires...26.5vdc, data sheet says 26.4 open circuit so OK there.
Multimeter on 10Amps, connect to both wires, this measures short circuit current, 0.85A. Very cloudy and dull day, panel horizontal, so more or less what I'd expect.
So, all Marquis had to do was disconnect it from the solar controller and do exactly as above. If it showed a voltage close to the open cct voltage, and any form of output, then its working, and, it'll work better when sunnier!! Not exactly rocket science.

I think they did check that judging by the mess they left the sofa cushions in.
Moving the sofa cushions would have achieved nothing if your wiring is similar to my Symbol v8.
A simple job of removing the 4 screws and pulling out the Sargent unit under the oven would have revealed all the cables needed for basic testing.

Booked in 2months ago? Your doing well, I’ve been waiting since last December for them to send me a new ceiling light as the old one failed after 18 months! Useless companyv8oholic wrote:Took my van in today for a pre-booked warranty issue with solar charging having never worked. Bear in mind this was booked nearly two months ago. Having worked in a business that took customer care very seriously it really annoys me that they are still in business. I know we can’t always choose we’re we have our motorhomes repaired and I am sure they know that.
I have never bought a new car or motorhome because of being trapped by dealers to use them for service and repairs during the warranty period.

Re: Marquis “can’t test solar today”
. . . . or at least, they took the camper in to allegedly do the job. And they came to my house to collect it, three times, 52 miles each way.
In fact the fault was a factory totally rubbish assembly worker who knew that he had not pushed a plug and socket together, and he must have seen through the smoky haze in front of his myopic eyes and wine stained Tee shirt that one pin was sticking out of the plug. Quality control? Doesn't exist at Rapido.
After buying four new / nearly new motorhomes in the past few years I have now concluded that it's best to buy a used one which will have had most of the faults rectified, fix the remaining ones and keep it. Anything pre-DPF is probably OK, and who wants to drive a motorhome in Bath anyway?

Re: Marquis “can’t test solar today”
Dolphin Motorhomes down here on the South coast have always been very good with sales and warranty work, ok they have a waiting time to fix things and also have to ask AS for authority to carry out the work, but that only took a phone call.
Such a shame they no longer are an AS dealer, although they do still deal with P/X AS vans.
