Hello from Cheshire
Hi all,
We have just put a deposit down on a 2001 Topaz, and can't wait to take delivery.
This is our first venture into the world of motorhomes, and I'm finding some really useful information on this site.
A couple of issues I've been thinking about:
1) Can someone explain to a beginner the various options regarding gas bottles, and where's the best place to buy them and get them re-filled.
2) I'm looking into getting a bike rack fitted. I understand there are ones which simply clamp around the tow ball, How robust are these ? It seems worrying to have 50Kg of bikes and rack held in place only by being clamped around a 50mm ball.

Hi shargrea
Welcome to the forum.
I use a towball bike rack for two bikes.
Best bit of kit I've bought. Easy peasy to fit etc etc.
If you want any info I'll gladly pass it on

Snap - we're in Warrington too
Or until I can get time off work, get the van on the M6, and keep going as far as we can without getting wet.
Only problem is - with the whole of Scotland to choose from, where do you start

Hi there,
Welcome from a rather dull Skegness; where we have been promised 25 degrees tomorrow!!
Regarding gas "cheapest place you can find" is best.
As 50mm tow-balls are capable of pulling up to 3 tons I wouldn't worry too much about hanging a couple of bikes on one!
Best regards,

Re: Hello from Cheshire
Looking at the photo of the van the the dealer seems to be the most local to you and you can join their club for free.
Regarding gas, I get mine from Alpine at Bridge Foot as they have a pump and I use a refillable cylinder.
I did use them for my Calor Lites previously. Bulldog01 also gets his from there. However the last cylinders I swopped I changed them at the small caravan dealers in Longford St (between the Docs Surgery and the Fiat dealer) and they were a bit cheaper than Alpine
When our friends got their bike rack fitted Widnes Caravans were the most competitive on price but why dont you try and squeeze Spinney to fit one for you?
The other option try Tony at A1 mobile caravan services (he has a web site and does ok with the local AS community)
