Dire warnings and helplines.

Are you as sick of them as we are?
It seems every TV programme aired after 9pm, and some even before that, are preceded by an announcement on the lines of 'flashing images, scenes of violence, strong language, animal cruelty, drug abuse, sexism,' and the catch all of 'scenes that some viewers may find offensive. This isn't only confined to fictitious drama and films, but documentaries and current affairs as well.
 On commercial channels this is repeated after every ad break. Then at the end of the programme you have the helplines for anyone affected by the content of the programme..
If that's not nanny enough, it's even spread to the radio. I sometimes listen to Radio 4 Extra, and any comedy show of the 70's or 80's such as Steptoe & Son are preceded by the warning that the following programme contains language and references that were acceptable at the time, but which some listeners may find offensive, and content may be edited..
Oh, and there was a helpline for those affected at the end...

In a similar way in London on some of the bus routes a couple of years ago, you would have a warning “bus about to leave “ and of it’s predictable companion “bus about to stop”. The drivers were being driven demented. I complained and I guess so did many others. It has now stopped so we can now take our lives in our hands.

Today I start my eighth decade. Over the years I have watched and listened to programmes containing loads of sex and violence swearing abusive racial and homophobic content. So far I’m absolutely amazed to say that I haven’t raped, murdered, abused,taunted or otherwise harmed anyone as far as I’m aware. I also eat meat and have been vaccinated against a variety of diseases. I realise of course that I am the only sane person left in the world!! Plenty of vacancies in my club lol

So that's a "Happy Birthday " to you then?
Don't tell anyone but that makes two of us who are sane then. 
"Nice to meet you" ,  , I've been looking for another one for a long time.

You might hear that on University Challenge but never on the celebrity cooking dancing programs.
They should invite anyone who has ever heard of the celebreties to phone the TV company and let them know.
