Floor de lamination or.....
Hi all, I’ve just had my habitation carried out by my long-standing mobile engineer carried out....(Micks Mobile)
If I buy a new vehicle then as a curtesy I use my dealer for several years...
Mich tends to pick up items that I feel are potentially missed and in keeping with that, he has spotted a soft patch middle floor ...prior to showing me this patch, he said he wasn’t sure if it was a hollow or void for pipe runs / wiring etc or de lamination !!?
He said that builders often leave a void for pipes etc to run through the floor so it could simply be that..but he wasn’t sure in this case...
It’s a patch about 5“ in diameter just soft...everything around it is solid ....but interestingly I pointed out to him the hazard tape running under the floor that aligns very well with the patch in question ...he had seen the tape but did not make the connection...
So with a Long intro.. my question is : does this make sense? Have other owners come across this area or void???

Hi Ray
Pity you can no longer ask Mark, but someone at A/S should be able to give you a definitive answer, rather than rely on someone's possibly dubious observation.
I say that because there's an area of our floor that has made me ponder, as it sometimes feels a bit spongy, while at other times I don't notice it.
I think it's more likely to be me going paranoid (and possibly a bit loopy! ) but the uncertainty is still a slight concern.

Yes, I found out about the voids when my jig saw narrowly missed a gas pipe that ran in the floor from one side of the van to the other and I have since seem them included during floor manufacture.
5" sounds a bit big though, where is it?

Hi Ray, I have the exact same soft patch that you are describing, running parallel with the bedroom door between the cooker and fridge. Is this the same as yours ?
Niall.

5inches is just my upper estimate, it’s very shallow and not easy to detect, but Mick found it!!
Just as Niall has suggested just in front of the bedroom door...in line with the cooker and fridge...
