Hello
Hi all and apologises for late introduction. Been lurking here for a few weeks, gleaning valuable information. After 30 years of camping in tents and last 10 years in a converted VW T4, we had been looking for a small Motorhome, to make life a bit more comfy.
With a limited budget and restricted parking on our drive we decided on a Autosleeper. After several months of searching we decided to knock doors. After walking Daily past one 2 streets away my husband knocked the door and asked if they were thinking of selling as the vehicle hadn’t Appeared to have moved for a year. Incredibly, the lady said yes, she had bought it a year ago but had experienced serious health problems, so had never used it.
She had put new alloys and a Thule awning on it, but never had the chance to use it. That’s where our luck run out. The MOT had run out in Feb this year and previous MOTS looked ok, the interior was immaculate, very clean and original. Son, who is a mechanic had a look and we bought it! 1997 Peugeot Boxer Executive.
Unfortunately, it failed MOT drastically, needed everything welding and sealing underneath, not sure of the details but our son said it would of cost about £2000 in a garage! With a MOT in hand we set off on our maiden voyage 2 weeks ago, only to get 15 miles away, when the engine overheated, gingerly we drove on with hot air blowers blasting to enjoy a weekend camping. Whilst away we had blocked sink/shower, remedied by hubby taking pipes off and finding a lump of sealer obstructing drainage. New radiator and thermostats fitted by darling son again. Off we go again this weekend. Arrived Friday afternoon, by Saturday morning water pump leaking and no running water!! Think we need a new pump.Enjoyed the weekend despite no running water. Anyhow, not defeated yet but feel this maybe an ongoing project and will need all of your experience

Re: Hello
Hello & welcome from S/Yorks.
Glad you got it sorted underneath, make sure its well sealed/protected for the future, rad & stats probably due to lack of use, & you might not necessarily need a new pump, the joints & filter assys can work loose & leak, easily fixed.
BTW, I always change oils, filters belts etc. on any new to me vehicles for peace of mind.
Enjoy your new 'toy'.

Re: Hello
Thank you! Hubby planning to get the pump off and have a good look at it. Oil and filters done, belt replaced 2 years ago. Son planning to give it a complete engine overhaul Over the winter. As he keeps telling me ‘it is 23 years old!’

How great to have such a useful son! Have you considered renting him out?
