Re: 2007 Nuevo Leaking kitchen tap
Can’t comment on whether it can be repaired or not but to investigate the issue I think the tiny red/blue insert under the lever will pop off to reveal an Allen screw which allows removal of the top lever.
From there it should be fairly obvious as to the nature of construction, often a large nut will be securing the cartridge in place but I’ve come across a few different methods, all are generally pretty straightforward to understand.

Took apart all ok, there wasn’t any limescale but a lot of black dirt possibly from the black sealing rings?.
Put it back together & it’s still leaking, so should I try a new seal kit & cartridge if I can get them as tap is now discontinued.
Where I brought the van from is a auto sleeper dealer so hopefully they can help.

Personally, these cheap taps don’t last and I’ve changed out many over the years.
If something like this fits and you have the skills just sort it yourself. Talking to a salesman (sorry dealer) is a waste of time IMO but don’t take my word on that!

The leaks tend to be caused by small amounts of water left in the cartridge over winter. When it freezes it cracks the cartridge and you then get a surprise the first time you fill up the next Spring, or mid Summer as it is this year. A replacement cartridge should cure the problem.

I agree SDA but I’ve often found it’s not always the cartridge that suffers but the cheap plastic that these taps are made of that cracks and causes the leaks.

I've had the same experience. Take the cartridge along with photos of the tap to a decent caravan/motorhome workshop and they should tell you what you need.steamdrivenandy wrote:The leaks tend to be caused by small amounts of water left in the cartridge over winter. Re: 2007 Nuevo Leaking kitchen tap
I’m no expert but they look like 15mm screw fit connectors (on the end of the silver flexy hose from the tap) that are screwed onto a push fit/screw fitting.
Possibly a 10mm screw fitting at the other end which is a pretty standard connection into the tap base.
Without seeing things I would say you probably would be able to reuse them, most taps as a rule come with standard hoses in the box .

Your basic tap mechanism will be fine - I would save your money and just replace the cartridge - that has been the cause of leakes on 2 of my taps.Tigerbadge wrote:Took apart all ok, there wasn’t any limescale but a lot of black dirt possibly from the black sealing rings?.

The cartridges are not very robust and with the slightest amount of water remaining in them over winter any frost will damage them such that it will cause them to leak.
The cartridges are available from Screwfix £4.76 either 35mm or 40mm - the one on my Malvern was 40mm.
Its a Flomasta Ceramic Mixer Tap Cartridge - get it from a caravan dealer and you will pay 3 or 4 times the price of Screwfix!

Apologies for my slight confusion here. I’ve had a few leisure vehicles over the years and they have all had those nasty silver plastic bodied taps, many of which failed.
Obviously we are talking about a metal body here and the cartridge seems to be a common problem

Your tap looks similar to the Whale on my van, but slightly different. I get a slight weep from mine which is caused by what I feel are inadequate plastic seals rather then rubber o rings in that long central bit of the body. They tend to scale as do the ends of that cylinder. Nothing to do with.cartidge and cured, for a while, by dismantling and cleaning.

Re: 2007 Nuevo Leaking kitchen tap
hi, hope you get this sorted.
when I did ours a really good clean was half the answer. I used soft cloth and citric wipes to make sure there was not the slightest hint of scale left in the grooves where the seals fit. Also make sure the inside of the swivel tap/body is squeaky clean, also remove and clean that bottom solid white seal. Black deposits like you have sounds like the seals are degrading, but if it was the combined three ring seal under the cartridge that was faulty then I would have thought the result would be a dripping tap not a leaking "body".
Hope this all might help

Re: 2007 Nuevo Leaking kitchen tap
Had a phone around today & nobody has any o-rings so a new tap is going on when screwfix get it in tomorrow.
Those old rings are pretty worn sp not worth putting back together.
Thanks all for advice .

Re: 2007 Nuevo Leaking kitchen tap
I make my own O rings for my restorations, very easy to do, I buy O ring cord from any bearing supplier, or failing that, buy several large O rings of various diameters, & cut to suit, cost is pennies.
Difficult if under about 20mm dia.
