Using onboard LPG for BBQ
We have recently bought a Warwick XL which has an onboard LPG tank to run our cooker & fridge, with an outside connector so you can use it externally.
Question - now lockdown seems to be passing and we want to get out, in preparing the van we are confused what fitting we need to find to connect this external fitting to a rubber hose to lead up to our gas bbq, and does it need some sort of regulator to change the pressure?
It seems odd that this is on the opposite side of the van to the awning, so presumably means carrying round 6-7 meters of hose which will be a bit frustrating for size and weight...any options for this??
Have tried to find a previous question about this without luck, hope someone can help.
Thanks!

Does the connection look like this?
If so, you need one of these:
Available from e.g.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/383055234488?rt=nc&_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3Dfa88a389764240fe87551e0cedf4e0a1%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D30%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D323257339597%26itm%3D383055234488%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2386202%26algv%3DDefault
Not sure why you'd need 6-7 metres of hose, how wide is your van? You just need to fling the tube underneath.

Re: Using onboard LPG for BBQ
After you've fitted the adapter to the non-BBQ end of the tube, you ease off the rubber cover shown in the photo abaove, and then push the adapter on to the tap whilst lifting the collar on the tap. The tap will not function unless there is something connected to it.
I use a long tube of 2 / 3 metres so that my BBQ is well beyond splashing distance of the van (and - given my propensity to set things aflame on the BBQ - a safe distance from the van!).
I'm surprised that the gas tap is on the non-awning side. Ours are both on the nearside.
Bon appetit!

PS: forgot to add that you don't need any regulator because the supply is already regulated.
PPS: are you certain that it's the gas tap, not the whale water fitting, which is on the non-awning side?

Bit confused why bbq gas point is on non awning side??? The Warwick xl has it fitted on the near side rear quarter which is the sliding door side and below the rollout awning.

Ours is on nearside as well. Canopy side rear. Not used it yet by the way.

Use our BBQ point frequently when touring, only once this year.no problem with a few metres of tube, it's a lot more convenient than connecting up a old calor/propane gas bottle or camping gaz bottle.

This image of an XL shows the BBQ point right at the back on the nearside....

you guys are so helpful!!
Thanks to all who replied to my question about gas/BBQ for Warwick XL.
You were quite right, there is indeed an LPG point on the nearside, we hadn't realised that's what that was! Feel a bit stupid, but at least now we know...
So no long hose required. And now we also know what fitting to connect to this point we should be in action once we can travel.
Much appreciated help to all responders.

Re: Using onboard LPG for BBQ
We use a connector like this:-
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Release-Fitting-propane-butane-nozzle/dp/B075765NP6/
so we can connect the gas BBQ to the van or to a gas cylinder when we are at home. A bit of rubber gas pipe goes from the regulator on the cylinder to the piece with the collar and then you can just plug in.

OK, glad you're sorted but now we're all on tenterhooks wondering what the connector on the opposite side of the van is for . . .

I would argue with that Julia.julialumina wrote:Thanks to all who replied to my question about gas/BBQ for Warwick XL.

I'd say you need at least 4 or 5 metres, so it can drop down to the ground on the side of the van, run flat across the ground for 2 metres at least, then come up to your bbq.
If it isn't laying flat on the ground between the van and the bbq it's an accident waiting to happen!!
And don't feel stupid. We've all been there, and what's to feel stupid about when you are unfamiliar and don't understand something new!!

Julia, have you checked the cutlery drawer, AS supply the LPG gas outlet nozzle shown above and that's where we found ours. It possible that it has been removed of course.
