Hi,

the Tacho (Revs) meter on my late N reg Trophy is not working. I have read that this is digital driven and that it could be a blown fuse. Any help would be gratefully received

What engine does it have? I'm surprised to see (from the VW T4 forum) that the rev counter on the diesel engines seems to come from the alternator - which seems extraordinary to me. But plenty of threads seem to suggest that...

Hi, Its not diesel, its a 5 cylinder ACU petrol automatic, very late. if you look at images of the back of the dash board meters, you will see that the speedo has the usual cable input, with the cable, as you said, coupled to the gearbox, but the taco/rev seems to have a multi pin socket.

The (apparently) common fault on the diesels is failure of the red wire connection at the alternator, but I wouldn't be surprised if the petrol 5-cylinder has a completely different arrangement. I think the VW T4 forum is probably the best place to ask. Don't forget to tell them what engine you have, because if you don't say, they won't know.
