Hello
I took early retirement in February and am now hoping to follow the dream. Always fancied a small motor home in which to explore and revisit places across Europe and the UK at a more leisurely pace. Spent a lot of time researching models and we eventually settled on a 1993 Talbot Express Autosleeper Harmony. So far we have had trips to sites in the Lake District and are currently preparing for a trip to the South of France. So far so good. Membership of the forum was recommended by the people we purchased the van from. Looking forward to learning more about the van and the experiences of other members. Already some of our friends think we are mad taking such an old van abroad!!javascript:emoticonp('')

from a few miles down the road. You will be surprised how many not so young motorhomes travel for months on end into mainland Europe

Hi there,
Good time to buy a MH - you can now go to all those new and exotic places Wanderers will be visiting next year!!
Welcome from a warm but damp Skegness.
Best regards,

Re: Hello
Welcome from Sunny Preston.
I wouldn't worry too much about the age of your van, it's only two years older than ours and I have no qualms about taking it anywhere. As long as it's in decent nick it'll be OK. Older vans are easier to fix anyway

Just noticed the above (too busy commenting on the woes of the Wanderers!) and have to say that your friends are totally and utterly WRONG!
The joy of owning a vehicle that is "pre-electronic gizmo" is that almost any competent mechanic anywhere in the world can repair it. They do say that with a single spanner and a flat screwdriver it was possible to maintain the old Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle and, having seen the many thousands of them that are in use in India (where they are still being manufactured) I can well believe it.
"Petal" is a 1998 model and we don't even bother with "Break-Down" Insurance so just relax and enjoy the experience.
With regard to going over to France our only advice is to take your time going south in the summer if you are not used to hot weather.
Best regards,
