Switch on ceiling light Lancashire
I am sure I've opened the ceiling light before but for the life of me I cant remember how. The rocker switch seems tone playing up and I wanted to check connections. Can anyone remind me how to access it please?

Is it one of these?
If so it has three tabs at 120 deg, one at the switch point, gently press/lever and it will pop out. From memory the switch itself is encased and not accessible. My similar lights are occasionally reluctant to switch too.

Re: Switch on ceiling light Lancashire
These ceiling light switches annoy me. Would you buy a house with switches on the ceiling? I have written and article for MMM about rewiring them to a wall light switch. I have done this in the washroom and next to the bed headrest. One salesman trying to sell me a motorhome said 'its got four travel seat belts so you can take the grand children'. I looked in the washroom, saw the ceiling light switch and said 'well the grand children cannot reach the light switches so it isn't a family motorhome and I'm not buying it'.
If you know how to do a bit of wiring, just bypass the silly light switch and fit a proper one on the wall at elbow height where you would expect a light switch to be.

The challenge is to route the wires of course!

If you cannot hide the wire, use the oval shaped mains wire and superglue it to the wall. It looks fine to my way of thinking. I wouldn't use red and black loudspeaker wire or round 2 core but the oval stuff with one of its flat sides stuck to the white wall disappears from view quite quickly. The other thing to do is to choose a nice light switch. I hate seeing domestic house light switches and mains sockets in caravans / motorhomes, they just don't look right. For the best choice go to one of the huge aircraft hangars that pass for DIY shops in France or Spain. They make our B&Q look like a corner sweet shop.

If anyone wants a copy of my article I wrote for MMM on the subject of fitting light switches to walls you can pm me and I'll send it to you.
