Hello just bought our first Motorhome
Hi everyone
We've just bought a 1991 Talisman on the 2.0 petrol Talbot with LPG conversion.
First-timers having tented for many years. Daughter has just gone to uni and we have 2 crazy Cockapoos. We want more weekends away where we can jump into a van and go. We were fed up of the hours spent putting up/taking down the tent. I'm sure many more people are thinking like us, as when we first went to Polruan about 12 years ago nearly everyone in the field was in a tent, maybe one or two vans. This summer, at one point we were the ONLY tent. Everyone else had vans including some real old ones too which convinced us to dig some pennies out from the back of the sofa and see what we could afford.
We love Cornwall particularly Polruan/Fowey, Wales, Northumberland and want to get around Scotland next year. We're also within an hour of the Peak District and have hardly ever been there so that's another place high on the list especially for quick weekend breaks.
I pick the van up this Saturday so I'm sure I'll be back on here looking for help. I already have a good idea what needs doing.
So hello again and see you on our travels.
Colin

Hello and welcome to this most friendly and informative forum. Indeed, you have to experience tenting for a number of years to appreciate the flexibility and comfort of a motor home. Enjoy.

Hello and you will find loads of help here.
Not to put a downer on your new van, but do you mean the engine is LPG converted, many posts on here that gas is getting hard to locate. Not that I have found that the case on the South Coast.

Hi Colin and welcome!
You'll now get to enjoy the experience of driving on to your pitch, kettle on and sitting outside with a cuppa within minutes, ready to enjoy watching the tent campers and even the caravanners with huge awnings spending ages getting their rigs assembled.

Hi Colin.
What a great feeling it is to make that first brew parked up somewhere remote.
Takes me back our first trip ever in a van, parked up on a beach 100km north of Auckland NZ.
