New owner of 1989 Flair
Hi all,
My wife and I just purchased our first camper van, a 1989 Autosleeper Flair (based on the Ford Transit). We'd been toying with the idea on and off for a while, then saw someone advertise this vehicle locally and decided to take the plunge. It needs a bit of TLC on the inside (in terms of decor/finishings) but seems mechanically solid and pretty decent body-wise.
Adventures await!

Wonderful! How long have you had it? Travelled far? Any major problems?

Sounds fantastic. Ours seems mechanically very solid but has clearly had bits of welding over the years, which I guess is the norm for this type of vehicle. Hoping it’ll serve us well and allow us to spend a bit more time out in nature when we have a free weekend and the weather’s half-decent.Jannette R wrote:Just got back from a 280 mile trip Coped with traffic jams and the hilly Yorkshire Dales with no problems at all Keeps up with modern traffic

Congrats and welcome.
A friend of mine bought a Flair last year and has been doing some mechanical repairs to it.
I did post on here at the time asking if anyone had an old handbook and a lady did reply saying she had one, but she was living in South America at the time and would try and remember to contact me when she returned.
Not heard anything since, but would be interested, as you probably would be too, to get your hands on a copy (unless you've got one already?).

I'd like to get my hands on a copy, but having spent some time poking around the interwebs over the past week or two, I've more or less given up.

Well, let's hope that the lady I referred to sees this posting and it sparks her memory into helping us out.

Manual 1988 Autosleeper Flair
My husband and I have just bought a 1988 Transit Autosleeper Flair automatic petrol. She (Camila) is in pretty good condition for her age, well we hope so! Just got her home. Tomorrow we will give her a good clean and see what works and what doesn’t. Radio possibly not and rear parking camera says no signal, so will have to look into that.
My question is, how do all the switches work! Does anyone have a manual or know where one could obtain one.

Thanks Paulmold I was aware that guests and members have limited access and no pm availability until a certain number of posts have been done but I am having difficulty in posting my scanned pdf files as they seem disallowed

also new owners of a 1988 Transit Flair
Hi. We have just purchased an old girl. 1988 Transit Flair Automatic petrol. We are currently exploring how things ARE not working in living area. Plugged her in today but nothing working. New leisure battery I think. Is there a main switch apart from main panel, that we are missing
