AS Devon on Mercedes Sprinter Chassis Empty AS Devon on Mercedes Sprinter Chassis

Hi,
Just had mirror indicator lens replaced by Mercedes Commercial Dealer after mirror-to-mirror clunky 'meeting' with a truck!
The mechanics said that it is possible to get mirror arms that fold-in electrically. We had these on our old VW Trooper & they were really useful both on narrow roads & also on site to avoid walking into them. Stupid or what?

Just wondered had anyone heard of these being retro-fitted? Nothing useful on Google tho' the tech guy at the garage is also looking & seemed confident.
As a PS we were able to replace the basic radio with a higher spec Merc radio that complies with their diagnostics system BUT that was through a specialist supplier-wonder if this is likely to be the same?

They don't make electric fold-in mirror arms. However, a good squirt with WD40 means the mirrors are a lot easier to fold in & nearside mirror survived a mirror to mirror clonk. Maybe I need an advanced driving course!

Yes, you are too gentle. They are quite stiff, 3 or 4 position to fold against the window.

I wish they did electric fold ones.

Please don't forget that the mirrors are not the only "sticking out bits", the coach-built body is not much narrower than those mirrors and a damned sight more expensive to replace. It is easy to forget that, sitting in that "narrow" Merc cab. :-)

A very useful post.
Our mirrors were locked solid
A bit of brute force and WD40 and they are now fine
Thank you
