Been away for two weeks tour and did not get on with the sat nav fitted to my warwick.Instructions vague at times and directed to  some very unsuitable roads.
Thinking of getting new stand alone unit and would like to know if anyone can suggest models worth considering.

ensure its set to 'fastest route' (favouring A-roads and dual carriageways) and not 'shortest route' which will take you down any lane just to save a few feet...

What Bolero Boy says is spot on. Happened to me until I stumbled across it.

I'm favouring the little known https://www.sygic.com app lately, since the TomTom Western Europe app on iOS went out the window shrugg

It has insanely accurate traffic - which I need for work (travel a lot), and I've been using it in the van a lot recently too. Can't fault it really!

That said, it is not aware of vehicle dimensions, so use some common sense there ;)
