Got my van today and the starter pack which seems a bit expensive for what it is. £250 for 2 levelling blocks, 25m electric cable, hose for filling water tank, green Thetford toilet sachets, small spray of toilet rinse and a thing to attach electric cable to house socket. I suspect all this could have been bought for £125.

Enjoy your new van, dealers seldom give much away so that’s not a bad haul. You’ve been given good advice above, so little to add, except forget about the dictionaries and get the Google translate app on your phone. Buy as you go along and realise what you actually need. Always keep one eye on weight, so go for as many lightweight products as you can. Right now your payload may seem big, but you’ll soon fill it with bits and pieces, and of course you need spare capacity to carry wine from France etc.
