Discounts
Hello
We're in the market for a new Autosleeper PVC in the next few months, we'll be paying cash with no part exchange.
Can anyone comment on what level of discount its possible to negotiate and which dealers are the most flexible?
Many Thanks
Des

Re: Discounts
I've heard that Marquis never budge on price. Other dealers may but don't forget they get commission for getting finance deals so cash doesn't always mean a discount. Often better to get extras fitted for free instead of discount as that doesn't cost a dealer as much. Such items could be bike carrier, extra leisure battery, larger solar panel etc.

Re: Discounts
I think what Paulmold says is true. I managed freebies like a bike rack, pod table, and a swivel seat but that was about all. However, last time I bought a new car they really pushed the finance side which was of no interest. One other suggestion. When I bought that car I went to two local Ford dealers and 'let slip' in conversation to both that they were in competition. I did a bit of research on the net and motoring magazines as to what sort of discount might be possible. I went back by email to my preferred dealer and simply said I have done some research and would be willing to go ahead at £XXX. It was about 9% off their original offer. They accepted. You can only ask.

Re: Discounts
I notice that Derby Motorhomes have a time limited discount offer on new vans that finishes (according to the website) on Jan.31st.
A decent dealer..worth a look at their website www.derbymotohomes.com

Re: Discounts
I have just taken delivery of my pvc from a Marquis outlet. Saying I was ready to deal today/now,in my opinion was more of a lure than buying outright.(which I also did).My offer was 5k below screen. He countered with4.5k,I asked for an avtex tv and alarm fitted for his price and deal done. Think 5k is very achievable.

Re: Discounts
If you go to the AS stand at the NEC, most of the dealers will be there and you can test one against another.

Re: Discounts
Further to Peter’s post above, I was advised to hold off ordering my new AS from Marquis until the October 2016 NEC. The dealers were happy to compete for my business and I saved around £2000, as well as getting extra sockets etc fitted.

Re: Discounts
A few years back I know, but we got quite a few extras when we bought at a show.
We had already priced the van up at the dealers beforehand and they were offering 'show deals'

Re: Discounts
We negotiated a 4k discount on our Broadway with Marquis, every dealer we have ever spoken to there has been room for negotiation so if they werent prepared to do some kind of deal I’d simply walk away! If they know you’ll walk they will do something, if not its their loss, we all know the profits they make on vehicles & if they can play you for a fool they will!

Re: Discounts
We held off till end Oct last year. Good deals to be had on showroom vans as they were making way for new models. We took ex display with packs already added for a decent price.

Re: Discounts
Thanks for all of the very helpful responses. Sorry I can't respond directly to the private responses but it seems like I need more postings under my belt before I'm allowed to do that.
I think we now have a good idea of what sort of discount we can strive for. I think it's just a question of setting a target and holding your nerve. Not my favourite pastime but worth a little discomfort to save some money.
Thanks again to everyone.
PS. I did try responding yesterday, but my response is not showing up!

Re: Discounts
I always ask "if another dealer offers a better deal is it worth me coming back to you". If the answer is yes then why can't they do better now.
The internet is definitely your friend for researching prior to any negotiation. I also tell them how much I would like to do business with them but they need to help me by getting close to the opposition.
