Warwick Duo crockery
Hello --does the Warwick Duo come with a crockery set or is this a thing of the past?

In 2017, they came with a set of plastic plates in a bag and 4 wine glasses. Not what they used to be.
The plate holders are not as good as in the past either.

I think it's melamine not plastic.

Yes Melamine. You contend Melamine is not actually plastic?Paulmold wrote:I think it's melamine not plastic.
I don't think it is a big difference but could be to plastic aficionados.

I wasn't trying to be clever. 'Plastic' brings to mind picnic ware, melamine conjures up a better quality than mere plastic. I know melamine is a hard plastic.

They are good quality melamine. Much better than the average stuff on sale in accessory shops.
The crystal wine glasses look quite fetching in my cabinet at home while the crockery rack resides in the loft along with the clip on wire drainer.

Really? According to lots of posts on here, owners put the crockery in the loft anyway and put it back when it's time to sell.WhiskyMack wrote:We got a DUO 2018, it came with crockery and wine glasses

Whatever you do with your new crockery set, don't put it in the microwave. It just heats up the crockery as well as the food! I know, I tried it

Same here Tinwheeler. Singularly useless items in my opinion.Tinwheeler wrote:The crystal wine glasses look quite fetching in my cabinet at home while the crockery rack resides in the loft along with the clip on wire drainer.
We've bought a set of Corelle crockery, which is much better than the (admittedly good quality) Melamine. It's glass I think, and nearly unbreakable . . . but not quite!! Plus it doesn't stain or get hot in the microwave, but don't buy the mugs as they are ordinary pot ware.
As for the crockery rack . . . .

Melamine cannot be used in microwave but there is a range of 'plastic' camping ware that is microwave safe. We bought two mugs, plates, bowls purely for microwave use. As we use melamine 'crockery' (we are one of loads who put the original set in the garage) it means I can do my porridge in the microwave for a start by using the microwave-safe bowl.palette wrote:Whatever you do with your new crockery set, don't put it in the microwave. Same here, although my wife does find the clip on drainer handy
They have got cheaper since we first bought a Topaz in 2007 when we had heavy china plates etc. When we sold it the red labels were still on the glasses, it took ages to drink a pint of Spitfire.

Mine went straight on eBay when I picked up the van 7 weeks ago as I’m the sort who thinks “just get rid instead of stick it in the loft just in case”
Didn’t sell so offers considered otherwise it goes in the loft

Well!!
We really wouldn't consider a 'new' second hand 'van without the original crockery /melamine set.

Off to the loft it goes then frederic till I decide to sell the van!
Must admit that when selling anything, the more original kit included (however worthless on the secondhand market it is) then a better image is portrayed to a potential buyer!

Re: Warwick Duo crockery
My comment was rather tongue in cheek but you are right.
A sale with all the correct 'Bits', as supplied new, along with any additions that enhanced the vehicles usability to the original purchaser IMHO indicates that the vehicle stood a good chance of being a 'Treasured Possession'

We have a similar crockery rack, Gromit but I feel yours is a little posher.

Our wine rack was removed early on but we kept using the melamine, until one cup sprung a leak after having hot water poured in it.

Not when you see it close up!Tinwheeler wrote:We have a similar crockery rack, Gromit but I feel yours is a little posher.
When I had finished fiddling to get it right, I intended to varnish it . . . . need I confess further?
It works well though, and keeps everything in the one top cupboard directly above where the plates and mugs are needed, so I doubt if it will every get properly finished!
