Van conversion jacking points
A job I’ve been putting off was rotating the wheels to even out the tyre wear, I’ve just finished. I’m glad I did it because access to the rear off side jacking point was very limited due to the fresh and waste water tanks. I had to remove the plastic elbow off the waste tank outlet and get the jack into position at 45 degrees rather than 90 degrees to the cill. I would recommend anyone with a van conversion check the jacking positions out before they need to in an emergency, I doubt I would have managed in the dark at the side of the road. I’ve also cleaned the wheel arches out, the backs of the wheels and all the suspension components and brake callipers. I’m off for a beer now to celebrate.

Only one beer!!
I too idle to bother with all that palaver. I take the van for a spin every two or three weeks during the off season and assume that's good enough to sort the tyres, as well as all the other benefits from giving it an airing.
The chances of landing back on exactly the same spot on the tyres is infinitessimal.

I swapped the wheels around as the fronts were wearing faster than the rears the van never sits long enough to get flat spots.

I rotate the tyres on the car every six months to keep the wear even.
Didn't occur to me to do the van?!
Added to my list of jobs!

I can never understand the logic of doing this?
You even out the wear so that all 4 [or 5] tyres need replacing at the same time, rather than just the fronts or the rears.
I would rather stump up for two new tyres than 4.

Me neither, my tyres will reach their age limit before the tread wears out so no point in rotating.boxerman wrote:I can never understand the logic of doing this?

Good idea to know your jacking points though, I just assumed they are all workable.
