Symbol speed limit
I’ve read all the threads regarding weights and speed limits but just thought I’d seek clarity from any Symbol owners out there.
I’m picking up my new Symbol tomorrow and from what I’ve read I think I’m ok with car speeds but didn’t want a speeding fine on the first day!

Re: Symbol speed limit
AS website shows the MIRO as 2815kg, which makes the unladen weight even lower and most importantly, well below 3050kg, which is where car speed limits end.

Interesting point that it is the Unladen weight and not the MGW as it means that many vans weighing in with a MGW of over 3500 are still subject to the same limits as a car, for those over
Urban Single Dual Motorways
Motorhomes or motor caravans (more than 3.05 tonnes maximum unladen weight) | 30 (48) | 50 (80) | 60 (96) | 70 (112) |

Re: Symbol speed limit
As the Unladen Weight is never specified for a vehicle, it is a strange division point for speed limits. If you deduct 75kd (driver) and weight of 90% of fuel capacity (?) from the MIRO you get close to the definition of Unladen Weight. Not sure how Police would work that out?
If your MIRO is less than about 3200kg you should be OK.

It is a strange one, especially for such as myself, where I’ve had my van uprated to 4500kg, yet my unladen weight remains below 3050kg, so legally I can continue to drive at car speeds, should I ever wish to.

Re: Symbol speed limit
You have to be registered as a Motorcaravan as well - check your V5. If it has not been properly registered you will need to get it changed.
