Must be true especially as it's in the Mirror.

In that case, it's definitely true, the Mail cannot tell a lie.

Re: Burglars and gas!
I never believed these gas stories. However earlier this year i met a couple who were adamant that they were gassed.
Their story was convincing.I am sure they would not make it up just to talk to me.

They had convinced themselves first Micky!!
https://www.rcoa.ac.uk/news-and-bulletin/rcoa-news-and-statements/statement-alleged-gassing-motor-vehicles
The Royal College of Anaesthetists were saying (in effect) "If anyone can find out what the robbers are using, please let us know. It's better and safer than anything we've got!!"
Either so stoned out of their minds that they would have slept through a hurricane - or trying it on with their insurance company!!
For anyone new to motorhoming, or of a nervous disposition, who would you rather believe? The RCOA or somebody's next door neighbour's second cousin's mate down the pub, who heard it from a total stranger over a pint!!!!

Yes i agree. But all the stories i read are hearsay.
I spoke to this couple at length. Has anyone else had a first hand experience?

I know somebody who was robbed. The robbers drank three bottles of wine but suprisingly left the bottles in his room.
I notice that the only "evidence" of gas being used on Mindy was that she didn't wake up.

I think (and so do the RCoA) there's a strong chance that if she had really been gassed by robbers, she would never have woken up!!!dbroada wrote:I know somebody who was robbed. The robbers drank three bottles of wine but suprisingly left the bottles in his room.

As some (most) of you will know, this topic was done to death on another forum. It remains my view that the link to the RCOA says it all and those newspapers perpetuating the myth are acting with extreme irresponsibility.

Re: Burglars and gas!
Hi
What that man said about what that other man said!!
Where are the medical reports? Surely if these people were suspected of having been gassed they would have been sent for a checkup at least.
Where are the Police reports, what was the gas and where are the burglars getting it from? If this sort of thing was as common as we are lead to believe and there was any real evidence, would the police not at least be looking into these things?
If they do want to know what the gas is all they have to do is ask the people who make narcotic gas detectors, after all they couldn’t make a detector for a gas unless they knew what it was (and presumably have a source for testing) could they?

Re: Burglars and gas!
Yes indeed Brod.
Be fair though, you must admit the villains are very conscientious and public spirited. If they didn't take their litter home with them we would know what gas they use from the discarded canisters.
Also many of the reports describe how the gas must have been introduced through the fridge vents. In theory at least, they are hermetically sealed so no air (or gas) could enter the van by that route, which hardly adds further credibility to the stories.
Cans of "Quick Start" were claimed at one stage to be the gas used in robberies. One can only presume the robbers first made sure the fridge wasn't running on LPG!!!
And so it goes on . . . . . .
More holes than a Wilko's colander!!
Please don't any inexperienced member be alarmed in the slightest by such bullshine! I know (from the other forum) it put off several members from travelling to the South of France, which was a great pity.

Just back from three weeks in France, we have the solution. Lady G and I just wore gas masks and it had the added benefit she couldn't hear me snoring.... no worries mate!
