Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
From October 2015 the warranty is as below...
So they are comparable with other converters offering six year water ingress warranty.
Auto-Sleepers Conversion Warranty
You can be confident about owning an Auto-Sleepers, because we are confident about the way in which we build them. The conversion work of every Auto-Sleepers is covered by our own three year warranty* scheme plus and an additional three year water ingress warranty*. The cover is not restricted to mileage and protects all aspects of the conversion. Terms and conditions apply, please refer to your handbook for further information. So they are comparable with other converters offering six year water ingress warranty.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
It would also appear that the warranty is transferable..
If the motorhome is sold before the end of the original warranty, the benefit of the remaining period may be transferred to the new owner using the form at the back of this booklet. The application for the transfer must be receved by us within 14 days of the acquisition of the motorhome or the remaining cover will be cancelled. We may ask for proof that the motorhome has been correctly serviced when the application has been reviewed.
Note that only the unexpired period of the Habitation Warranty is transferable; the benefit of the additional Water Ingress Warranty applies only to the first owner and cannot be transferred.
http://www.auto-sleepers.com/media/2014/12/AS-2016-MH-Warranty-Booklet.pdf
Just noticed that this does NOT include the additional water ingress warranty!! Although as I understand it that would only be on years 4,5 and 6...

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
As your van was less than Three years old the full warranty is transferable, including water ingress (manufacturing fault) but the owner would have to make the claim.
Question. Can dealers make a warranty claim?
Even if they can are they willing to delay a sale by the process to take place when autosleeper would probably want one of their dealers to do the work. Autosleeper can't do anything to it without the permission of the owner.
A repair of damp as you describe will take some time to dry out and repair and as you say they have it already up for sale.
I think a more honest approach by them would have been to give you the option, either to walk away or take the £2000 reduction in the trade in value. My cynical side feels that the talk about the warranty was to get you to complete the deal there and then, I may be wrong my cynicism gets the better of me sometimes!
Importantly was there any mention of this on the trade in sale form or was the value just reduced by £2000?
I do hope you get a satisfactory solution to this but as I see it that is in the hands of the purchasing dealer.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
Another angle, surely the purchasing dealer will be unable to sell the AS unless he is totally dishonest about the damp or repairs it .
If the dealer transfers the warranty to themselves will they then be able to claim off AS? And, just to complicate matters more, will that add to the number of owners the vehicle has had.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
Hi All. Thanks for the recent comments. Re the sale / trade in paperwork they did put a separate comment of £2000 retainer held for repair of Stanton. They were going to get Apple Campers who are supposed to be AS approved repairers to look at van, repair it, see if AS will pay under warranty. If AS won't pay I would get back any unspent portion of the £2000.
As mentioned before the dealer has already advertised it for sale days after trade in which seems strange.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
A very good day today. Had a phone call from AS customer service manager - they will honour the warranty & if Highbridge Caravans transport my old van to Willersey they will repair it foc & the remainder of the warranty will be passed onto the new owner.
Well done Autosleepers - my faith in them is restored & I will look favourably towards them when looking for my next van.
Now I just need to extract my £2000 out of Highbridge Caravans.
Thank you Autosleepers for standing by your product & doing the right thing. Very reassuring for other AS owners if they are unlucky enough to have a problem.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
RESULT - good for Auto-Sleepers. It is good toknow that even if they draw their warranty conditions tightly they will inerpret them liberally

Good outcome to what could have turned into a messy and stressful situation. I hope Highbrodge returns your money as soon as they receive that commitment from Autosleeper.

Well it's all ended ok. £2000 retainer paid back to me yesterday by Highbridge Caravans. So thanks to Autosleepers for standing by their product & warranty & Highbridge for keeping their word & returning money.

Re: Mercedes Stanton damp
Brilliant, I am glad it ended well for you and AS came up trumps.
Shame it took so long (about a month I guess?) to decide, with I am sure the stress of not knowing being unbearable for you. Sensible and forthright communications between all parties is what we need, if even to let you know that a decision will take a short while to come through.
Perhaps one should be grateful, and I am just a miserable old git!!
Anyway well done to the AS Service Manager, assume it’s Mark.

Hi, I know it’s a long time ago and ended well for you, but did you ever find out where the water was entering the Stanton? It looks like I’ve got the same problem - if you did find out about it, any idea how big a problem it was to solve?Aldercow wrote:Well it's all ended ok. £2000 retainer paid back to me yesterday by Highbridge Caravans. Stanton damp
Hi BarryKent. As far as I know it was the either the fridge vents or the two external outlets beside them or possibly the external hatch to the under seat storage. You could see a black sheen on the small piece of wall board inside between fridge cabinet & rear door. Also when lifting rear passengers side seat base you could smell damp & the wall board had a slight black sheen to it. Not sure what was done by Auto-Sleepers as a repair for dealer - whether they just resealed the fridge vent, locker door & socket outlets & left as that or if they replaced any of the internal wall boarding. The damp was in that under seat locker floor but again don’t know if or what they would of done with regards to replacing any of that. I think people have the same trouble on the Nuevo’s. Sorry not more help.BarryKent wrote:Hi, I know it’s a long time ago and ended well for you, but did you ever find out where the water was entering the Stanton?
