2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
When I purchased the Nuevo EK in Feb 2016 one
of the minor issues was storage for the two
Lafuma folding camping armchairs
We decided to purchase two fold up chairs and
although practical, we miss the comfort of the
Lafuma folding camping armchairs.
The problem is where do you store them in
the motorhome when they are not being used
I have seen adverts for under chassis/bodywork
drawers that can be fitted to some motorhomes
Is a option with the Nuevo
Don’t really want a big box at rear of the motorhome.

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
I think the under chassis drawers would not be big enough on the Nuevo if you have the space as there is already one there as standard.
Many people stick them on a bike rack, but whats wrong with carrying them in the van then when on site in the cab or under the van ?

Not sure how big your chairs are but we have two folding chairs which I strap behind driver and passenger seats on our Broadway EK using bungee straps. As the elastic fits between the seat back and squab there is no discomfort but if you want to swivel the seats you need to remove the chairs.

I have a Nuevo and just got a back box. Everything goes in it. They are worth it.

Hi Rose49f
Thanks for the post
Which one did you get?
Any photos of both inside and outside of the box on the motorhome ?
Take it you need a bike rack to fit it to?

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
When we had our Nuevo we used a Fiamma carrybox on the back. BUT, we foresaw the storage problem and bought an ES with a Luton bed. Carried chairs, awning and goodness knows what in the overcab space. Lost count of times we met EK owners on sites who said "wish we'd bought an ES". Yes, you need a bike rack too!

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
Mine is an ES. I put all bedding up there. Duvets, pillows, memory foam mattresses and in my box l have the chairs, table, levellers, cable, wellies boots and the rest. I can always remember my 'garage man' telling me don't put much weight in the Luton as it can make The van feel unstable.

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
I forgot the bedding!! Point taken re the overcab but ours never felt unstable at all. We even had water barrels, ramps, cables and bits and bobs in box. invaluable when inboard storage is so poor. We loved our ES but got tired of going to the loo in a cupboard and a pathetic shower!

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
Agree the ES is the way to go, but if like me you bought the EK then Im afraid a big box on the back is really the only answer (other than a trailer).
they will fit on a cycle rack but in my opinion are better mounted on a tow bar - I really dont like the idea of hanging a lot of weight off the back wall.
there are several makes of box Fiama is popular but there are other makers.
If you go for the idea of mounting it on a tow bar 'back rac' make a good platform that attatches to teh tow bar for mounting a box on

I’m not really wishing to carry a lot of weight just items as below
2 x Lightweight Lafuma chairs x foot stools
Silver Screen cover
Lightweight Windbreak,collapsible water hose
Mains lead, Motorhome Wheel levellers, barbecue will travel in the Motorhome
So not to much weight

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
We've had an EK for 8 years now and never had a problem with storage space. I don't like the ES with the luton overcab, I think they look a little old-fashioned. The low profile EK looks much better in my opinion.
As has been mentioned, our reclining chairs fit neatly between the seat back and the bench squabs. Our silver screens live on a bench seat in the bag if dry, in the washroom if wet.
We used to tour everywhere on a motorbike, with just a couple of panniers and topbox, so have learnt the fine art of minimalism. It's amazing the stuff you don't need to carry.

Only if you look at it from outside - from the inside (where I normally sit) it looks fine!
we are often on the road for 2 to 3 months at a time and for us storage was marginal - and we have an older Nuevo with the over cab storage locker not that silly sunroof

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
Many thanks for all your posts.
I think I will be pursuing the idea of a Fiamma Box as I do not wish to leave them under the motorhome or keep moving them from behind the seats to either the washroom or under the motorhome each time we want to put the beds up or want to use the shower.

Nuevo EK extra storage
A number of members have recommended the Fiamma box to store extra items. I have a Nuevo EK with a bike rack on the back. Is there a particular size of box that you would recommend? Secondly, are they easy to fit to the bike rack?

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
fitting the Fiama to a bike rack couldnt be easier 4 U bolts (supplied)
but dont limit yourself to Fiama whilst their products are undeniably popular there are others and often the others are cheaper.
so far as I know Fiama only make two sizes and on Nuevo there is no reason not to go for the bigger one - the smaller one on a PVC would allow the rear doors to open not a consideration in a Nuevo

Thule - £300+ (420L)
Bac rac = £240 (450L)
to name but 2
Bac Rac also do a tow bar mounted box (185L) for£145 which you should be able to mount on a cycle rack but you would need to provide your own U bolts

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
I just ordered this from Amazon for my bike rack (on a Stanton)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N9MIVLS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It probably needs a heavy duty cardboard box liner and an inner base made from rigid plastic of some sort, but it looks good value and light weight.

Re: 2017 Nuevo EK Extra Storage
When we had a Nuevo, the motorhome levellers that you refer to fitted neatly in the outside locker (the wet locker.) Like others on the forum, the silver screens travelled in the shower and squashed neatly out of sight behind the turned around passenger seat when on a site.
I would be wary of fitting extras for storage until you've really tried things out thoroughly.

Any link for Bac Rac please google doesn't bring up anything meaningful.

If you put "Bac Rac bike rack" into Google it will take you straight to their website, without even having to get the spelling of their name right.
