Introducing Zizzeddu Empty Introducing Zizzeddu

Post by zizzeddu Wed Mar 14, 2012 12:22 pm

After spending many years afloat in the Med. finally ending up in Sardinia (where the locals named me Zizzeddu), spending a couple of years in France and now on the inland waterways. I have decided to get sensible and have bought a AS Legend. My first trip is already booked. I cross to France on May 1st, Nice to Corsica on May 4th, Bonifacio to Sardinia a few days later and then down to Arbatax for a couple of weeks. I have a return ticket from Arbatax to Genoa on May 26th. From Genoa, it is a bit vague because I don't have any deadlines to meet. I have done this or a similar trip many times over the last 19 years but usually by car. With the motorhome, I am hoping to get off the beaten track a bit. Of course, when I get back, it will be back to 3 mph as I take my narrowboat to York for a visit.

Hi Zizzeddu and welcome to the forum
We had a great holiday in Sardinia 11 years ago. We flew from Stanstead to Alghero with our tent, folding chairs and table and cooker then hired a car from the airport and toured round for 16 days. My favourite place wad Calaganone (I think that's how it's spelt) - the winding road down to it was spectacular.
We'd love to go back someday.
Cheers
Stevo

Hi, Cala Gonone is in the most unspoilt area of Sardinia. The coast from there down to Arbatax, which includes the Golfo di Orose and the Gennargentu mountains and country park, is one of the islands best kept secrets. I lived there for about 12 years.

Hi there,

Welcome from a dull and chilly Skegness. cold beachball

Like the narrow boat! We have just moved to the Duetto after eight years on the canals of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany in a 37ft Boarncruiser.

We decided that the boat was a bit constricting in terms of where we could go. By the time you get back from Sardinia we will be heading for Finland and the midnight sun!

Enjoy! allthumbz

Best regards,

drinksallround
