Fiat EGR recalls! Peugeots?
Hi all, the subject may have already been covered on here, but I have just been reading a thread on another forum, regarding a number of Fiat EGR recalls. Some owners are livid at the time it is taking for Fiat to get parts in their workshops to do the repairs! Some are having to wait 2/3 months as Fiat underestimated the problem and they also say they are not responsible for the repair of other damage caused by failed EGRs.There is a Fiat app that gives owners info if their vehicle is included in a recall. What I would like to know (not really!) is, does this also apply to Peugeot vehicles?
Anyone got any information on this?
Pete
PS. It has been suggested that there will be new Fiat based motorhomes on forecourts waiting to be sold to unsuspecting customers! Dealers won’t tell them will they!

That could be this recall https://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/expand.asp?uniqueID=E4511278F4292B45802581B8004FD49D&freeText=Blank&tx=
There isn't a similar Peugeot recall.

I *think* it is the Euro 6 engine. Peugeot use Ad Blu, Fiat don't so I suspect this is the main reason it is only Fiats affected.

Maybe not Euro 6 then, those dates would be Euro 5.PLOUGHLIN wrote:That could be this recall https://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/expand.asp?uniqueID=E4511278F4292B45802581B8004FD49D&freeText=Blank&tx=

Euro 6 was mandatory from Sept 2015, so the dates tie in with Euro 6.

Re: Fiat EGR recalls! Peugeots?
Pete, you are absolutely correct. We have recently purchased a new Ducato-based MH and WE told the dealer about the recall! They still have two more more on the forecourt. If it a Euro 6 then the EGR needs doing and soon! I have heard of a Fiat Pro site where there are 5 vans stranded with blown EGRs and they have been there several months. Ours was done locally 2 days after collection. Now waiting for an intercooler sleeve replacement (2nd recall). There are probably several thousand vans out there where the owners are none the wiser until it happens. The dealers either don't know or don't care (probably 50/50 or both). Fiat seem to have done very little to tell owners and the parts supply has been very patchy or even non-existent. The words "Fiat" and "Professional" should never appear in the same sentence IMHO. Love the van though! (even though it's not an AS)

Have you registered with the online Fiat Camper thing? It will tell you if you have an outstanding recall.BarryP wrote:We have recently purchased a new Ducato-based MH

Re: Fiat EGR recalls! Peugeots?
Yes i have Dave, but only because I am a bit savvy about these things. I found out about the recall before we bought our van by researching the Swift forum. Most buyers don't and never get told anything by the dealers. This issue does not seem make-specific as all forums carry similar threads. I have spoken to two other Ducato MH owners who have similar vans neither of whom knew anything about recalls. Never been told either by their dealers or Fiat. Unless you go looking you will never find! Another sad reflection on the industry as a whole I am afraid. All this shows the REAL value of these forums which provide such a great service for those who choose to take part. Sometimes I am frightened by what I would not have known had it not been for the AS and Swift forums - both are brilliant.

I never knew about it either. My van was covered in "if your camper is stolen ring this number" stickers. When my van was stolen we rang the number to be told we should have rung when we got the van. Next time I will know. They did actually appear to know it had been stolen already so something works!
I will soon become a Swift owner (if the insurance cheque comes through). What Swift forum are you on?

SwiftTalk. You only need to register. It is not quite as user-friendly as AS but once you get used to it...................
If you are looking at a Swift MH with "Command" it is loads of fun!!! Useful but VERY frustrating.
Good luck.

I assume that the only real difference between the Ducato and Boxer is the engine so i looks like a bullet has been dodged this time.

In short Peugeot's are not affected, although the vans may look almost identical the engines are completely different.

Re: Fiat EGR recalls! Peugeots?
Thanks for all the replies, and thanks spanner, I am pleased to hear that Peugeots are different engines. However, now the snow has gone, we will be taking ours out for a blast up the A38 soon to clear out all the cobwebs! Soon off to Ireland, to battle against the weather along the Wild Atlantic Way!
BarryP, pleased you got your EGR sorted, now just your intercooler sleeve! - Fiat are unbelievable! I thought Peugeot dealers were bad enough! Best of luck.

Re: Fiat EGR recalls! Peugeots?
Cheers Pete. Just to be clear, our local Fiat-Pro outfit are really good as have been our local dealers. It is Fiat who have been useless. Very few owners were notified and we still haven't been. They issued a recall but couldn't supply the parts! And then there is the problem of the chronic scuttle leak which many 2015 -on Ducatos suffer from (we don't) but that's another story. Very happy with our Swift so far....................
