Re: Harrogate MH show
Went last year. Took all of an hour including having a coffee. I had free tickets and would have been upset to have paid to get in. I notice they have reduced admission from £7 to £5 now which probably reflects the poor show.

Likewise, we got free tickets from a neighbour!
On the other hand, it gives the truck a 500mile run before we do the Europe trip of all trips late Apr/May, and you always see something of interest
MOT day tomorrow, so that and the Harrogate show gets it ready for 2018 adventures! Should you be interested this is the planned route!

As you are passing through it, you do know to buy your fuel in Luxembourg don't you. Not as cheap as it once was but still one of the cheapest places in western Europe.

Re: Harrogate MH show
Thanks Dave
Having been caught out by a Froggie tanker driver strike in France couple yrs ago, we now leave UK with a full tank (Circa 600 miles in the Boxer)
However, as you kindly point out we will be passing through the "whole" length of Luxembourg so it would be a good place to top up..
Whole point of this trip is the Alsace Wine Route (Google it for the map) and Switzerland, where we've never been
Once again thanks for the tip

Re: Harrogate MH show
I usually fill this side and then have my first fill in Luxembourg.
I'll be in a hire van soon so hopefully I can get that far on the first tank full. We will then be heading for Colmar in the Alsace as I've not been there before and it looks pretty before heading south for Italy and then Monaco.

You will find it much nicer to stay at Camping Medieval in Turckheim ( https://goo.gl/maps/1bbkFqZKJvJ2 ) and take the short bus ride into Colmar.

Thanks Peter
Had a look at the map link and it seems fine
Most of our "plans" are just that, far from cast in stone, so variable as we want them to be
So, at the very least, we will go via that site.
Many Thanks
Ian

Re: Harrogate MH show
Camping de I'll was a bit seedy last time i stayed there and it is a good walk out of town. There is an aire at the Marina that is much nicer and closer https://goo.gl/maps/EhB883vjyrs but Turckheim is a beautiful medieval town with good restaurants http://www.turckheim.com/office-de-tourisme/en/heritage-visits-discoveries/the-nightwatchman.htm
The wines of the Alsace available at the Cave in Turckheim and the tasting glasses, available in boxes of six for about €9 fit the AS glass clips perfectly.

The glass rack was the first thing I removed from my Nuevo and anyway, I'll be in a hired Swift!Peter Brown wrote:The wines of the Alsace available at the Cave in Turckheim and the tasting glasses, available in boxes of six for about €9 fit the AS glass clips perfectly.

Re: Harrogate MH show
We will probably pop across as it's only 50 odd miles from here. As another off topic Saarburg just across the border from Luxembourg into Germany. Gorgeous little 'old' town and worth a visit. We are heading to Italian Alps (in my old Landrover ) in July and it's a nice short dogleg en route with some lovely sites.

I seem to remember Saarburg was a little wet when we met there! But agree a super town and site with cable car down the hill to the town.

Re: Harrogate MH show
We are still hoping to go, probably late morning Sat unless we decide to go in the van. Off down to Minchinhampton tomorrow and a bit cautious re the amber snow warning but will have full water etc so can stop and live anywhere
Daughter and large dog stay at ours when away.

Re: Harrogate MH show
It was a good show this year Paul. Nowhere near the size of the NEC (but then a cooked meal in the cafe was only 7.50 and was edible too ), there were quite a few trade stands as well as a lot of new and pre-owned MH's. Was £7 on the gate but worth it I thought plus a good day out.Paulmold wrote:Went last year. Took all of an hour including having a coffee.
