What Essentials do we need in our MH ?
Hi,
We are having our Maiden trip this week in our Executive. I have spent today packing but I seem to have loads of spare room in all the cupboards and was wondering if I am missing something essential!
So come on guys help me out here what do you all have in your campers? what are the essentials that I have to have?
thanks Nina

Just imagine yourself living in it, and look at what you have in the house, on a smaller scale. empty cupboards not a bad thing, I do have empty cupboards in the this van I bought 3 months ago. do not carry anything I will not use.
Bedding , blankets just in case it is cold, cushions,
Pots and pans, cutlery, kitchen tools, dinner set, wine glasses, beer glasses, electric / gas kettles, gas lighter in case needed, torch,
Kitchen towels, hand and tea towels
Hand / shower towels, dishcloths,
Cleaning materials.liquid soap, washing up liquid, kitchen paper towels, toilet rolls, household as well as chemical.
toiletries, medicines, humans and dogs first aid kits, sewing case, playing cards, crossword books,
Tool kit, small vacuum cleaner, dusters, windscreen cloth on a pole for cleaning same,,
Food , bread, cake, biscuit tins, wine beer, fruit juice,
Clothes,shoes, boots,
TV, laptop, cameras, etc. books, magazines, maps, camp site books, Sat Nav, club membership cards, Breakdown papers,
Outdoor table, chairs, sun canopy, don`t use the awning, awning carpet, waste water container easier to empty than moving van, , 2 x 5lts water containers for drinking, small trolley for toilet emptying,
I keep the majority of above in my van at all times, only adding fresh food when going away.
Enjoy and happy
Best wishes,
Margaret

If you're travelling to Ulan Bator the list may be a long one. However if you're sticking to the UK or western Europe, whatever you forget can easily be bought in shops..

My recommendation is to spend 24 hours or more living in the motorhome on your drive, if possible, failing which on a basic site (CS/CL type) near enough that you can pop home for anything truly essential, or at least be able to make a list of any omitted desirable items to add before the big trip away.

pen and paper to list all the things you forgot this time.
Don't worry about empty spaces, they find a way to become full without any input from outside.

Hello Nina, not sure if you've set off yet? Most important tip I can offer is to enjoy yourselves!
Agree with all of the above, and suggest the following blog site is well worth a look if you get a chance!

This couple have considerable experience and their blogs are always good reading.
We're off for a short trip at Easter and then a longer one to Europe in the later in the spring.
Best wishes, Andy

Thanks Guys for all the replies -It goes without saying the vodka and wine is already in there! And so is everything else I can think that we'll need.Peter Brown wrote:Bottles of Bells and Laphroaig - seriously..
Ive checked all the suggestion and can't see anything obvious that I've missed from the various lists! I suppose it just because we used to have folding camper and two kids and a dog - all the camper cupboards and the car was always full to the ginnels... now its just the two of us, we seems to have absolutely loads of room !! my OH says they are not empty they are full of air and I don't need to fill them LOL.
thanks Nina
oops I forgot our new to us dog of five weeks! So i suppose her crate and toys will take some of the spare room up.

If you're going to be in the UK there's plenty of well known shops where you can buy what you think you need
If you're going to be in Europe, see above!
What you do NOT want to do is fill the thing with all manner of cr8p you really do not need, especially if its heavy
However, having said what I said above, alcohol is as good a use of spare space as any!
Stop worrying, just enjoy your OH was right!!
