Post by dwp Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:01 pm

I joined the forum last year but forgot to introduce myself, so better late than never.

I bought my first Autosleeper new from Wilson's in Castle Donington in 1973, a Bedford CF. That same year I drove overland to Australia (well mostly, there was a little bit of sea in the way !). That took 11 months, then after a year working, I drove right round Oz and New Zealand, which took another year. The van was then sold to fund return tickets to the UK.

After a flirtation with a split screen VW (yuk !) I bought another Bedford CF Autosleeper in 1982. This was almost identical to the first one - things had changed very little in ten years. I owned that for 29 years, in fact I still had it when I joined the forum last year. Sadly I have had to get rid of it since then, so am now looking for another van. Having been an Autosleeper man for 38 years, and having lived in one for two solid years, it's got to be another one for me. I just hope I can find one with as good a layout and as much storage space as the Bedfords - if anybody would like to advise on what models I should be looking for I'd be very grateful !

Welcome from North Wales handshake That was a hell of an introduction to motorhoming. You must have a lot of memories from that epic journey.

Hi there,

Welcome from sunny Skegness! beachball

My good wife and I have just spent a full six months straight in a Duetto - and still speak to each other!! (This being more a testimonial to the easy living of a Duetto than the tranquility of our marriage!!) tap_fingers

Best regards,

drinksallround

I bought a slide scanner so I could download the photos from a working holiday to Israel back in 1969, now I can't find the slides!!!!

Hi DWP.

A belated welcome to the forum from Nottinghamshire. That is some adventure. An intro like that gets my respect. Look forward to hear some more.

Cheers. Whisky.Hello 524783431
