Does that automatically make it true??  scratch head

I think I'd wait for the problem to manifest itself before taking the chainsaw to the side of the van!! Whistle1

It only needs one erroneous or misinterpreted comment from someone on the interweb, and suddenly it becomes repeated as an undisputed fact. I know this is an Australian website, but it does suggest that the reported demise of LPG is somewhat premature.  CLICK HERE

(P.S. Starting two virtually identical threads at once invariably leads to confusion and discontinuity, so I've closed your other thread and edited this OP slightly to append your additional query.

If LPG were in short supply, you'd not be able to get it in  bottled form either ;)

This is how rumours start - I quote from the 'wild' forum..

"Heads up - there is currently no lpg available at UK stations due to a temporary refinery closure "

What utter nonsense. There is one 'strategically placed refinery' that is having problems and the government has temporarily lifted driving restrictions for tanker drivers driving from ports to this one refinery to alleviate the problem. This is the official press release ...

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/temporary-relaxation-of-the-enforcement-of-drivers-hours-and-working-time-rules-delivery-of-lpg/extension-to-temporary-relaxation-of-the-enforcement-of-drivers-hours-and-working-time-rules-delivery-of-lpg

Absolutely Paul.

The fact that you see it on a forum does not mean it is the gospel truth. Pity so many people never stop to think that it could easily have been posted by a drunken idiot who just felt like causing mischief.

Perhaps you could change your name to Gromette, got a certain ring to it, no, let's not go there hugegrins

Out of interest I tried mylpg.eu for a local LPG stockist, it listed five places, four of which closed years ago and didn't list the one just down the road to me! If its that accurate everywhere I will not be using it find LPG in Europe!

I wouldn't want to be 18 again, I have had a great life and next time I might ....... it up. snigger

So what is going on with the LPG supply?
I ran out last weekend in Colchester, I was on hookup so managed OK.
There was none available on my travels back home to Bedfordshire and looking at the Fill lpg website which is updated daily all around me garages had run out.
Not being available strikes me as being a shortage.

I checked the updates on Filllpg yesterday and half a dozen (small percentage I know) updates were to move from ''unavailable" to ''confirmed price" which means some stations have had new stock.

It appears to be more of a problem around London and the home counties.
Next going away at Easter but none of the stations on my route have any, just have to hope things change before I leave.
It will be the first time I have filled since getting the van so a bit of trepidation.

I don't know what direction you're heading but looking on Filllpg there appears to be a few stations around Bedford and Northampton with stock.

People probably heard a rumour that LPG was in short supply and rushed to fill up their tanks! hugegrins
Try going in to your local supermarket just before Christmas and say loudly to somebody “they’re  running out of sprouts” and watch what happens. lol4

LPG. Supply's Empty BP to remove LPG

Post by pjonesf1 Fri Mar 16, 2018 12:31 pm

I know that it still may not be true but I read in a news article that BP were going to remove LPG from their forecourts but as yet I haven't seen any sign of it being done

Just an impression but I don’t think BP ever got properly on board with LPG at all. I can’t recall seeing more than one BP filling station with LPG.

I am prepared to be corrected but I don’t think BP leaving the game will be detrimental. Indeed, it will present a bit more business to the other suppliers.

If I remember the report correctly, BP said they ar eremoving LPG from 36 stations where the use is low and hence uneconomic, not removing LPG from their stations.

Nearly all BP stations in my area stock LPG and more reasonably priced than their fuel. At the moment they all have stock also.

The BP garage that I always use when home,  doesn`t have LPG. can`t remember them ever having it. perhaps not popular here.
