Not a grumpy post - just the opposite.

It's nice to post a bit of complimentary news when most of the media seems to be doom and gloom and despondency . . . and "find someone else to blame"! 

The Boss will be 70 in May so she applied on line to renew her driving license. The application was timed at 4.20pm on Thursday last.

Today is Monday, and the new license arrived in the post. It must have been processed on the very next day!

How good is that!!!!

I am diabetic so have a 3 year licence. In the past this has taken up to 6 months to process. The last application resulted in a new licence well inside a week! Well done DVLA.

I turned 70 in December. I did mine on line and it only took a few days too. Quite impressive!

We live not too far from the DVLA, just a few miles away.

In view of the complaints on the forum re their service, I  decided to call in and tell them to pull their fingers out, or they are likely to get invaded.

You never hear when it all goes right do you, impressive service!

Upto now (touch wood) not had problems with DVLA.   When I had the ICD fitted in 2015 I couldnt drive for 6 months and when the 6 months were up their computer wrote and told me to apply for the new licence.  As it happened I was also in a couple of months time due for an over 70s licence but they said no worries we wont make you apply twice and issued the new licence.   I thought for civil servant types this showed brain power.

I agree....you only hear complaints. I had impressively prompt issue of my new licence.

Good to hear as it wont be long before I need to apply mind you I still have one of the old pink ones (pre photo card for younger viewers) so have to show my bus pass if anybody wants one with a photo on (like hire cars)
