Hi all the people using Cadac BBQs - what regulator do you use to attach to the external gas point?

You do not need one as the gas is already regulated.

Connectors for the Cadac: at the vehicle end of the flexible pipe, fit the male end of the quick-connection coupling which fits the female external gas "socket" of the van (if there is such an external outlet; if not, connect the flexible pipe to the regulator on your gas bottle.)

That male quick-connector should have come with the van, possibly left in the ashtray. They are readily available - such as this:

https://gasproducts.co.uk/gas-fittings/gas-hose-nozzles-and-clips/8mm-quick-release-gas-hose-coupling.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwtZzWBRD2ARIsAIPenY0ywl8ZiiIaRPfzC37niEhmsYCd4sGSMBqlGhqXxV0h85kKsmE4wUEaAmnoEALw_wcB

The Cadac end of the pipe connects to the Cadac by the crew fitting which came with the Cadac.

Ah... so we are missing the male quick-connector.  Our van is 2nd hand and we didn’t get that with the van (I think that a few things have been pilfered).

Mark at Autosleeper tells me that we need to buy it from them, but if I can get something like you suggest I will try it (we’re on the road just now).  Thanks for your help!

You beat me to it Paul . . . again!!!!  content

I'm pretty sure that's the one they need. It will either plug in or it won't, so no need to buy direct from A/S. It's a standard fitting anyway, and if it's the wrong one I think there's only one other alternative, and it's for a very old fitting! (Pre 2004 I believe.)

P.S. Found it. The pre 2004 fitting is here, but it won't be needed. I'll attach the link in case anyone with an older van needs one - they are not easy to find now.

I think the earlier fitting is referred to as a Bullfinch and applies to vans prior to 2004 which more or less discounts all models as external BBQ points weren't fitted back then (I think - someone will tell me if that's wrong).

That’s great - thanks! Our van is 2014 so that will be the one we need. We’ll see if we can get one on the road.

Another option. I got these from ebay
1. Caravan Motorhome Quick Release External Gas BBQ Point Outlet Nozzle
Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Caravan-Motorhome-Quick-Release-External-Gas-BBQ-Point-Outlet-Nozzle-Post-2004-/321835 For connecting to MH...external gas fitting.

2. 3 Metre – Caravan Motorhome Camping LPG / Propane / Butane hose 8mm gas pipe BBQ
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Metre-Caravan-Motorhome-Camping-LPG-Propane-Butane-hose-8mm-gas-pipe-BBQ-/251322928213?hash=item3a84038c55

3. If wanting to cut pipe, where you can store a short section with the BBQ set & the rest with the outlet quick-release nozzle [number 1 above] will need also this item from Ebay:
Quick Release Gas Hose Nozzle Coupling Connector 8mm for Motorhome

I'm with Gromit on this one. Portable gas cooker and griddle pan.

Several reasons..........broke the hinge on my (unused) ext gas point and super glued it shut, don't need it

Cooker and pan store easily under one of the side benches (at the back so no need to take the thing to bits to get them out.

Standby cooker if all else fails ( we carry 4 cans gas)

Easy to clean and stow.

Generally eat out!!

We are considering getting a small gas can to keep us going on this trip. Both cooking indoors and eating out is working out fine in the meantime!

That's interesting, as mentioned earlier in this thread we have the Outwell 'Asado' BBQ (uses larva coals). However, the instruction book mentions a warning that the hose cannot be longer than 1.5 metre. We currently comply to this instruction but would like to fit a longer hose say 3 metres so as to position the BBQ outside of the newly acquired Kampa air awning. My question being what harm will it do to connect the longer hose if any, other than lower pressure maybe?

We managed to pick up one of those pipes today, at a great shop called Camping Hössle in Einslingen, Germany.
