Hi
I think WD40 actually makes some things worse and it reacts badly with some plastics,I would clean it off and perhaps try a PTFE spray,I am sure you will get a lot more advice
regards
Alan

There are many types of catches in use. Can you post a photo or try to give a detailed description?

Hi Peter , push button on the outside and grey plastic inside, small latch on inside sticks in so door is open all the time.
Van in storage but will take a photo next time I am there.
Thanks

This has worked for us in the past by slightly loosening the fixing screws to the cupboards/drawers. Seemed to happen more so during winter months.

I agree with both comments.Paramedic wrote:This has worked for us in the past by slightly loosening the fixing screws to the cupboards/drawers. Seemed to happen more so during winter months.
The worst thing you can do is add any form of lubricant, anything at all makes them more sticky. If you remove them they easily come to bits to clean.

Re: door locker catches sticking
I got sick of pulling mine to bits and cleaning them, so I looked carefully to see where they were sticking and gave them a taste of the belt sander.
Just a caress to thin down the slider a bit, and they have been no trouble ever since.

Re: door locker catches sticking
I had a cupboard with a button sticking too. I took it apart and couldn't see what was wrong so put it back together again and it still stuck. As an experiment I took a catch off another door and fitted it to the sticking door and it worked without sticking. I put the sticking button into the other door and it didn't stick in that door so left them whre they are. So........... try swapping with another door.

Re: door locker catches sticking
I took all mine apart on our year old Broadway FB, cleaned them and lubricated them sparingly with synthetic grease.
Did the trick and when we sold the van 2 years later they were still working fine
I also stripped down the bathroom door lock and lubricated that.

Johnsons baby oil is lethal in a van, it melts adhesive and anything it comes into contact that is supposed to stick on, drops off. We used to keep a bottle in the bathroom cabinet that had sliding doors in runners stuck on with double sided tape. The catastrophic failure of the adhesive ejected the mirrors that were smashed.

These appear to seize up for some reason in winter. If you simply wait until it gets warmer, they'll work. If you can't wait, a hair dryer will loosen them up in about 5 minutes.

Did the same and it worked for a while, so I took them apart again and caressed them gently on the belt sander.Bad Penny wrote:Took mine apart and greased them lightly. This worked for me.
That brought them to heel and they have given no trouble since!
