Rienza Vehicle Battery removal
Hi
I need to take out the vehicle battery any tips? There are two under the drivers seat and I need to get at the vehicle one. Which is which and if it is the front one how is the easiest way to get it out? Do I take off the drivers seat or do I have to take out aux first etc?

Hi Chas
I have recently replaced all three batteries on my MK7 Transit based Eton, which also has two batteries under the drivers seat like yours which I think may be the MK6 Tranny so hopefully not that different. I removed the drivers seat to access the battery compartment which was easy as the seat is held in place by four T40 Torx bolts and lifts out complete with seat belt, the seat belt extends far enough to enable the seat to rest in the walk way just behind the cab seats. I was advised that the seat was very heavy but I found it more awkward than heavy, it was actually lighter than the batteries which weighed in at over 22 kilograms a piece. Once the seat is out of the way it's easy to work on the batteries, but bear in mind you will need your radio code to get the radio working again after reconnecting the battery.
On the MK 7 the van/starter battery was the smaller 65 ah Ford battery, the bigger leisure/van backup being a 85 ah Varta.
I used Varta maintenance free batteries as topping up under the seat is awkward to say the least, OK if you possess a double jointed neck and extending eyes but I'm still working on those.
Cheers John.

Hi Chas,
I completely agree with johno on the method for the change over of batteries.
As I mentioned in your other thread on batteries, my 2006 Rienza needed the front battery replaced which was the vehicle starting Battery.

Hi Chas,
yes the front battery (nearest the dash) was my starter battery, however have the battery tested after removal to be certain. It may be possible that the cable lengths would allow for reversal!!
