Nuevo skylight
Hi just opened the the roof skylight on my nuevo ek 2014 new to me 4 weeks ago yep the mechanism collapsed . checked on my service history to find it was replaced only 13 month's ago .under warranty so not a problem . looking at the flimsy mechanism I am not surprised it has broken .How much of an issue is this problem .Is the front one as bad .? Are there any other issues that are going to bite me . Bazz

hi molly is this the centre one with handle? If so it is advisable to help opening with your hand as the seal tends to stick. Mine was damaged during service they do not like a heavy hand.

Mine too. I now try to remember to add a little pressure to the window while opening. Fine for me but my partner is too short to do this.

Molly I never have had any problem with mine so long as you do not open to far and stop when you feel resistance and likewise when closing. Twice during hab checks one was completely trashed and second was twisted out of alinement .

Rubber seal sticking
As this is a very well known problem it's about time the manufacturer (Remis etc) fitted a rubber seal that's fit for purpose as they know full well that the cover sticks to the seal.
I bet they sell half a dozen repair kits for every complete skylight during a motorhomes life.
Dont bother buying "Wurth Rubber Care" at around £11 as it doesn't work.
I might just try covering the rubber seal with a strip of black pvc tape to prevent the seal sticking to the cover

Re: Nuevo skylight
Wurth and Thetford toilet seal spray are similar silicone based products, I havn't used the Thetford but it may be worth trying if you already have some, I've applied the Wurth rubber treatment with the roll on applicator 4/5 times but it doesn't last longnaki585 wrote:Would a silicon spay on the rubber help?

I use pledge or equivelant. Spray on to cloth and wipe seal - do not polish off. 2-3 times a year works OK.

Re: Nuevo skylight
If this is a Heki 3 rooflight, check the seal before applying pledge or silcon spray. The seal on mine has a velvet surface and you could bu**er it up.

As other people have suggested. You must always exert pressure when winding it up. Pledge and Pressure!
