Re: winter use vs storage
I have always drained down at the first frost but as we use van all year round and its our daily transport I use undiluted screen wash added to the toilet flush tank to enable use of the toilet all year round.

Re: winter use vs storage
Hi Keith, and Daisy Mae
thanks again for the infos! I THOUGHT that's where the pump was, but was baffled how to get to it... so, I shall now relax having emptied the tanks and the water heater and run the pump dry for a few moments - as that seems to be sufficient. And, I'll buy a spray bottle for the loo!
I too have wondered if there is an easy way to have a switch inside for the gas bottle. The answer I got so far is that there is something called a Travelsafe which is fitted inside the gas compartment and I think they said it shuts off the gas in case of a bump. But I do wonder if it could even be fitted because the gas compartment with 2 bottles in is pretty packed.
I think I will also be using a small oil filled radiator - the blown air heating is a bit noisy anyway.
The guys at the Service Centre have said that simply heating the interior of the van is not sufficient to prevent the water tanks and hot water heater from freezing and that they must be drained if there is risk of frost.
They are situated under the van so freeze because of cold wind - and, as someone said, these vans are not terribly well insulated.
The screenwash in the loo makes sense! might try that.
Thanks again, All
