Re: Automatic drain valve on new vans
When I had searched previously about this I found a thread dating back to 2013:

I realise the Truma heating element (Part No. 70070-01) is quite pricey for what it is but the question is whether there is any real benefit fitting it or not?

Re: Automatic drain valve on new vans
Hi Mike
To my simple mind, I can't see the point of inventing a gadget to perform a certain function, then to create another one to disable it.
It seems to me it's all Americanised dumbing down and removing personal responsibility.
If you forget to lift the yellow lever it's your stupid own fault. If the auto dump valve fails you can sue somebody!!!!
If one is a bit concerned about the ancient memory, how much trouble is it to make a draining down checklist ???

Heating's on, sun is shining and I'm sweating cobblers now. Fair enough there was a deep frost last night but it's perfectly safe now. Is there an easy way to (temporarily) override the pop out switch thinggy ?! I'd be awfully grateful if you could.
Cheers
There is a way to override the dump switch and that is to hold the button in with tape or Some other means.
This was the info given to me by my dealers technical staff....after I had trouble getting the switch to stay in following a cold spell.....the manual suggested running the heating for 10 mins until the temperature had risen to above 10 degs at the switch.
How practical it is depends on your accessibility to the switch.

Refilled fresh water system (again) and the dump valve had stuck open after been left for few months.
Valve released itself after turning the top screw key then pushing in the button a few times, hooray
It reset.
Though I would mention it as many vans had been sat in storage or sorn for awhile .
Boaby wet knees.

Re: Automatic drain valve on new vans
Thanks for the reminder. A few months back (before the lockdown) I decided to replace the water in the tank with fresh. As I was filling with the hose I could hear water running out, and the tank wasn't yet full. Oh dear, for several minutes I thought some pipework had failed.
Turns out it was the Truma dump valve that had opened up and needed to be reset.
It hadn't been that cold here but I'll know for next winter.
