Hello
Hello. I bought a new 2017 Mercedes Stanton on Tuesday from a dealer at he NEC show.
I recently was diagnosed with Glaucoma and as a result, the DVLA have revoked my C1 entitlement on my licence. I can no longer drive my present Swift motorhome as I uprated it to 3850kg and fitted full air suspension nd E&P hydraulic self levellers. Downrating it is not an option for me as the payload will be a pathetic 220kg. Accounting for my wife and I and 2 dogs leaves us only 100kg after fuel and some water.
Anyway, we have chopped in the almost new Swift and are eagerly awaiting the collection of the Stanton next month. Having it uprated to 3500kg by the dealer through Sv-Tech. Gives me plenty of payload.
Why do Autosleeper plate this model up at 3200kg? this is not a licence threshold as far as I know and reduces the available payload by 300kg. Make no sense on the face of it.
Anyway, looking forward to using this forum and learning all about the 2017 model.
Best wishes
Dennis

Re: Hello
Welcome Dennis.
I thought they plated it at 3,300kg (just to be pedantic ) but I can't see why they do it either, although there must be a good reason for it.
If they plated them at 3,500kg they could immediately increase the payload by 200kg, which may well be the deciding factor for some potential buyers.
Peter#1 might know the answer??

Re: Hello
Thanks for your greeting.
Howeber, from 2017 Brochure...
you can see here (and what impressed me most) is that the Stantom has a plated weight of 3200kg or 3500kg (I was voted a founder member of the Pedant's Society )
A Massive 651kg Payload which already accounts for 75kg driver (I wish!) and 90% full fuel tank. Amazing, why don't they make more of this? That extra 1kg might make all the difference!

This topic has been discussed by ASOC (owners club) and AS on more than one occasion and to be honest I can’t remember their response but am sure Peter will

How can you be voted a founder member when there was nobody to vote until you founded the society??Dare-devil-dennis wrote:(I was voted a founder member of the Pedant's Society )
(It was Wat Tyler anyway, as every schoolboy knows. He led the Pedants' Revolt.)
