Habitation Check
Hi,
I am a new member and my Broadway will soon be celebrating its first birthday.
I am wondering where to have my first habitation check done. Does it have to be done by the supplying dealer or any dealer.
Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks,
john

Re: Habitation Check
Hello and welcome to this most friendly and informative forum. For habitation check, we use a mobile 'Approved Workshop' facility that is fairly local and costs £110. Dealers are likely to charge more.

If your vehicle is still within warranty, it would be wise to stay with the supplying dealer. They are more likely to have the necessary links with AS if problems arise. I have read on this forum of approved AS dealers, who were not actually the supplying dealer, being reluctant to undertake warranty work. Keith

Re: Habitation Check
We have had all our annual habitation checks done by AS at Willersey in the Cotswolds, due to the van having various niggles throughout its warranty period. Mark and his team at the AS Service Centre have been really helpful.

Re: Habitation Check
Hi Pete, Keith and Paramedic,
Many thanks for your replies, I googled "Approved Workshop Facility" and came up with half a dozen around my area, (Ipswich).
I must say that I was initially attracted to the idea of a visit from a mobile workshop avoiding all the hassle of emptying personal belongings, delivering and collection. However, the extra effort may be worthwhile if there could be issues with carrying out warranty work or potential queries whether Autosleepers would recognise checks carried out by a "non-AS-dealer".
I have had three new motorhomes previously and had never bothered with these checks, (hence the question), but having spent a lot more on this vehicle I thought it sensible to protect the warranty.
Thanks again for taking the time to help.

Re: Habitation Check
Hi John, To clarify our situation, the mobile Approved Workshop identified a damp problem just before the dealer one year warranty expired. Dolphine Motorhomes duly honoured the work necessary to rectify the problem being poor sealant surrounding the EHU socket. Of course it makes sense to return to your dealer for habitation checks during the A/S warranty period in case of any major (or otherwise) issues. Regards.
