Fridge side clearance in Broadway EK ?
Does anyone know how much clearance there is at the side of the ( 2014 model ) Broadway EK fridge nearest to the hab door ?
We want to screw something to the panel to the left of the habitation door ( the one with the grab handle on) but are wary of screwing into the side of the fridge. Short of removing all the seal round the fridge there is no way of finding out.

If it is any help Quilter , although mine is a different model, I have screwed two drop down metal table brackets from AS to the side of the fridge casing on the sofa side, now have a lift up worktop extension, works well no problem with the screws ,I believed i used shorter slightly thicker ones, some time ago now.
Good luck,
Margaret

Thanks Margaret. That's good to hear- presumably AS leave sufficient clearance for a short screw at least.
We want to fix a removable shelf supported on the fridge side by a pair of lift-off table hooks and resting on the partly open cutlery drawer on the kitchen side.
I know it will be over the door - not ideal- which is why it has to be easily and quickly removable in case of emergency, but I hope it will give me just a bit more space to put light things on as I cook or wash up.

That sounds a good idea, that is why I put in the lift up worktop, looks as though it was an original fitment as the wood is the same colour.could always do with more worktop

Hi Quilter
You have given me an idea which may appeal to you - if it can be fitted.
Mrs Gromit wants exactly the same additional facility, and I've got a lift up table of the type they used to fit on the other side of the fridge. I can't fit it there because the clearance from the steel bed base is too tight, so I'm just going out to see if I can fit it where you want yours. If I can, it will be perfect, and it may be a solution to your problem too??
As for the clearance, I'll be back in a minute if I have anything to add.
Thanks.

Damn! The grab handle is in the way - but I guess it could be moved or replaced with one of a different shape.
As for the clearance, it won't be much!! You can get to measure quite accurately the thickness of the panel by poking a caliper under the pull out work surface. If you don't have one, it can still be done accurately enough to ensure that any screws you use won't go all the way through.
It's plenty thick enough to do the job I think.

Re: Fridge side clearance in Broadway EK ?
I'd not thought of a lift up table. Might be safer than the shelf idea as it won't cover the door. We have one as fitted on the other side of the fridge but it doesn't get used much as it's my seat there and I can't use it with the table up. Not sure it would fit however as we use the " bin" area for flip flops, dustpan and brush and bungees.
We already have one shelf ( as per idea of clever man on another forum) which fits over the drawer under the wardrobe. That's my OH's night shelf so gets removed during the day but was made from a free sample of Homebase laminate wooden flooring which is a pretty well exact match to the furniture and exactly the right width. We might have to buy a length to make the kitchen shelf as we were lucky to get a free piece the right length before.

The shelf, when not being used, will slide into the storage "bin" behind the grab handle by the way.
