Letter from DVLA Empty Letter from DVLA

Post by chalkywhite Thu Aug 03, 2017 10:40 pm

Had a letter from DVLA today regarding my recently purchased Warwick XL.  DVLA have received notification of a possible  discrepancy in the vehicle details when first registered.  They wanted me to complete a form filling in Vin Number, Make and model and colour. Date purchased and from who. The only discrepancy I'm aware of is the colour, they are calling it brown and we owners are calling it Golden white. Anyone else had this letter ?.

Not had the letter (not relevant, mine is white) but the colour issue has come up. Only brown is acceptable to the dvsa, not gold or bronze. Do a search for golden and you might find the other posts.

When our Warwick was 1st registered its colour was recorded as white, which its definitely not, so we got it changed to Gold as that is the colour it would be recognised as.
The colour is actually Golden White

But surely your official colour must be ChalkyWhite?

I've not had a letter from them, but while recently up-rating my maximum weight and had to send my V5 in, I asked for the colour to be amended at the same time, changing it from brown to gold.

Gold is recognised as a base colour by DVLA, so I'm not sure where the information is coming from to the contrary and DVLA confirmed that they would change mine to gold, but that they need Auto-Sleeper to request the amendment as it was them that supplied the original colour to DVLA.

I've borrowed the following from another site and it contains a list of recognised colours as supplied by DVLA......

DVLA basic colours to cover the manufacturer’s description

I have just tried to change the colour for my armoured car on my log book to SAND the DVLA as sent me a letter saying that quote (although the manufactures use a wide range of colours for their vehicles, we only use the basic colours to cover the manufacturers description. These basic colours are important for identification purposes and have been agreed with the manufacturers. A list of basic colours is shown over the page.) un quote

So if it is any help to anyone hear is the list of the colours....

BEIGE. – BLACK. –BLUE. – BRONZE. – BROWN. – CREAM. – GREEN. – GREY. – GOLD. – MAROON. – MULTI/COLOURED.– ORANGE. – PINK. – PURPLE. – RED. – SILVER. – TURQUOISE. – WHITE. – YELLOW .
