MES Control Panel 'Spooked'
Two days ago our electrics in our 2008 AS Devon became 'spooked'. The step suddenly retracted and the perimeter lights flashed on/off. The panel read 'warning mains connected' (it wasn't). Subsequently since when we stop, the control panel sometimes says 1) Warning Complete Shutdown 2) Goes to AS logo 3) Water Low 4) Wast Tank Full when neither 3) or 4) are true. The next screen lists various fuse blown, these then disappear of the next few bleeps and if we are lucky I can switch on and the water pump will work, but sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes when we stop Everything is OK, othertimes the panel just shows the AS logo and we can go no further. I have to disconnect the leisure battery and reconnect before entering code etc. Then I may have to through the above 1 to 4 procedure again.
Even when we do get things working OK, every so often the perimeter ceiling lights switch on automatically for a couple of minutes or so.
Seems to happen if we are on hook up or not.
I fitted a Solar Panel in May however everything has been OK for two weeks of travelling in June before this started playing up so I can't thing it is connected in any way or is it?
Apparantly this type of panel was made by MES and AS no longer use them or carry parts.
Anyone had a similar problem?

I bought our MH couple months ago they fitted a new one of this type they got it from AS. When my other one went wrong i rand AS they told me to reset it, remove the grey plastic surround, then remove the two fixing screws on the rear is a printed circuit with a reset button, if that don't work remove wire connecters leave of for few minutes and replace, hope it works.

There is also a small nicad battery on the circuit board, this could need replacing. Not too daunting if you are handy with a screwdriver.

RESET BUTTON
I had an email from AS which did not really help apart from giving me the phone number for MES. Yesterday morning the system went completely spooked again. I tried all the normal things to settle it down, ie switch on & off, disengage the battery but to no avail. In the end I took the advice from the first response here and removed trhe control panel to expose the rear pcb, located the reset button and pressed it for circa 60 secs. After re-entering code everything was Ok. After some 30 hours still OK as I write this. Thanks for all the advice. Will let you know in a weeks time if still OK.

MES Control Panel for sale
I had a 2007 Nuevo which I've recently upgraded. I was warned that the MES control panels were inclined to give up after a while and that replacements were running out (no longer made) so I bought a "spare" one. Not cheap. When I traded up, I forgot all about the panel. If anybody needs one I'll do a good price. It's still in the (unopened) box.

Re: MES Control Panel 'Spooked'
I got fed up with the MES control panel and the needless complexity of it and the Bonus plug-in systems PDU so I removed it and replaced it with my own system.
Details here if anyone is interested.

Your articles are very interesting and I'm impressed with what you have done. From a personal point of view, I will tolerate the built in inefficiencies of the electrical installation rather than spending the time you have obviously done to eradicate them.

We spend a lot of time in the van, sometimes weeks on end, and for various reason we are never on campsites so never have an EHU.
Also, before I retired I was an electronic engineer so this sort of stuff is not a real challenge. I must admit though, in the past I had a wireman to do the build and wiring for me. I think he would sniff a bit at my wiring. I documented it as much for my own use as anyone else. The web is a great place to store data.
Anyway it's all working splendidly now.
My basic advice to anyone who is interested in conserving power and has not went down the solar panel route is to fit LED lighting and an isolator switch on the leisure battery.

Chrisk, did you get the instruction manual from MES? Can you share it? I have a 2009 Northants and the panel is temperamental to say the least.

MES control panel
I had a huge problem with my Autosleeper Devon control panel. Sent it to MES 2weeks later sent me back a panel that was different conections. I contacted MES they said no I have my original panel. I could'nt get to the bottom of it. So booked an appointment with APULJACK in East Brent Somerset. They looked at the panel and said I had the wrong panel. Phoned MES they then realised they had sent me wrong panel.I did a 5 hour round trip to swap panels.Went back to APULJACK who fitted new connector and panel all OK . Moral of the story if you a problem with MES panel go to APULJACK they know them and the different models and can repair. Phone No 01278588922.
