Paul the astronomer from York.
Hi All,
Paul and Linda here from York.
Just joined the forum after inheriting a lovely 1999 Amethyst 2 berth from my parents last year. They decided they are a bit on the old side to continue on their UK wide touring adventures. We were very surprised (and very grateful) when they asked us if we would like to have their motorhome.
She is the 2 berth version, in lovely condition, 45k on the clock, with a Ford Transit 2.5D Auto engine. She drives like a bus, has the acceleration of a wet leaf, but we love her! We have been away 8 times in the past year since we got her. We recently had some rust issues round the wheel arches and doorsteps cut-out and replaced, and the whole cab fully repainted, along with an area of the fibreglass which was showing some fine crazed cracking repaired. She is good as new and should last us for many years to come.
We joined the forum as it seems like a very useful place to share knowledge and ask questions/advice, etc.
I recently added an external TV aerial socket/mast, TV amp, some 12v/USB power points, converted all fluorescent lights to LEDs, and installed a DIY 200W rooftop solar panel set-up with a MPPT charge controller. Keeps the habitation battery fully topped up all the time and gives us all the power we need without a hook-up. At the height of Summer it can put 40 to 50 AHr into the battery on a fully sunny day, and even on an overcast day, with no direct sun, a 1A+ charging rate is possible.
Very best wishes from York.

Good vans the monocoques and it will give you years of enjoyment. You are in a good location for motorhoming without the next to travel too far
